Position Overview

A Powerline Technician is expected to discharge the responsibility of and to practice fully his/her trades qualifications.

A Powerline Technician reports to a staff supervisor or delegate.

Responsibilities

  • Perform standby duties as assigned.
  • Assist in training new employees, apprentices and employees in lower classifications.
  • Perform duties normally carried out by a lower classification.

Requirements

  • Holder of a Journeyman Powerline Technician Interprovincial Certificate or a Lineman Trades Qualification Certificate.
  • Be familiar with and experienced in electric utility transmission and distribution systems, protective and safety devices and their clearances and isolating procedures.
  • Holder of a valid Class 3 driver’s licence with air brake endorsement

  • Residency requirements: The successful candidate must adhere to the residency requirements of this position.
  • Overtime requirements: This role has overtime requirements based on operational needs.
