Job description

Position Summary

Introduction to database systems. Topics include data models, query languages, database design, recovery and concurrency, integrity and security.

Please note :

  • Instructors must work within departmental guidelines on Connect
  • Final exams will be in-person for all first and second-year courses (Lecture and Online)

Qualifications – Required : Applicants must possess a master’s degree in computer science  or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Candidates are expected to demonstrate current engagement in scholarly or applied research , evidenced by recent publications  in relevant areas of the discipline.

Qualifications – Areas of Specialization : The position is open to candidates across relevant subfields within the discipline, provided they meet the required academic and professional qualifications.

Qualifications – Discipline : The successful candidate must have an academic background in Computer Science  or a related field  (e.g., Information Technology, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data Science), with clear relevance to the courses being taught.

Qualifications – Professional Designation : A recently completed PhD  in Computer Science or a related field is preferred . Candidates who are near completion of their doctoral studies may also be considered, particularly if they demonstrate strong research productivity and teaching potential.

Qualifications – Other : Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate :

  • Subject-matter expertise  aligned with the instructional needs of the program
  • Teaching experience  at the post-secondary level or evidence of strong teaching capability
  • Industry experience , which is considered an asset and may enhance applied learning and curriculum relevance
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage diverse learners
  • Salary : $9,316.88
