Job description

Security Guard Group Limited is seeking a Part-Time Security Guard to join our growing team in Toronto, Ontario. In this general site security role, you will help maintain a safe, professional environment for clients and the public. This role offers the opportunity to transition into a full-time position based on performance, availability, and operational needs. We are looking for an individual who demonstrates professionalism, reliability, and flexibility in their availability for days, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts. Security Guard Group invests in its people and upholds a high standard of service, so this position is ideal for a guard who takes pride in their work and seeks to grow with a company known for excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrolling premises on foot.

  • Monitor surveillance systems and access points; control entry to premises as required.

  • Report writing – document daily activities and incidents with clear, detailed reports.

  • Respond promptly and calmly to alarms, emergencies, or incidents, following established procedures.

  • Maintain a professional presence at all times – uphold Security Guard Group’s standards of conduct and appearance when dealing with clients, visitors, and the public.

  • Collaborate with law enforcement or emergency services during incidents when necessary, and communicate effectively with the client and Security Guard Group supervisors.

Requirements

  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License (required by law) – candidates must already hold this license; we do not provide sponsorship.

  • First Aid and CPR certification from a WSIB-approved provider (must be current).

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada, with a clear criminal record (as required for security licensing).

  • Availability for part-time, on-call shifts, including evenings, overnights, and weekends (8:00 PM to 4:00 AM).

  • Ability to use a smartphone (iOS/Android) with internet access for work purposes (clock-ins, incident reporting, etc.).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English – able to interact with the public courteously and write incident reports clearly.

  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to stay alert and responsive during periods of low activity.

  • Professionalism and punctuality – must be trustworthy, arrive on time for all shifts, and present a tidy, uniformed appearance in accordance with company standards.

  • Previous security experience or training is an asset (e.g. Former security, law enforcement, or customer service experience), but not strictly required. We value a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

  • Benefits

    • Company-Provided Uniform: All required uniform pieces are provided free of charge to you, ensuring you have a professional look on duty (no uniform purchase required).

    • Paid Training and Orientation: You will receive paid training to familiarize you with company policies, site protocols, and best practices. We invest in thorough onboarding so you feel prepared and confident on the job.

    • Opportunities for Advancement: Part-time guards who excel may transition to full-time positions or be considered for promotion as the company grows. Security Guard Group values internal growth and recognizes high-performing team members.

    • Supportive Work Environment: Work with a team that emphasizes integrity, respect, and support. Management and 24/7 supervisors are available to assist when you need guidance, reflecting our people-focused values.

This part-time Security Guard position offers a chance to contribute to a professional security team while enjoying flexibility and growth potential. If you are a licensed guard who prides themselves on reliability and professionalism, we encourage you to apply and join the Security Guard Group team!
