Construction Manager

Location: Northern British Columbia — On-site position

Position overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead the build-out of a large-scale, mission-critical compute infrastructure facility in Northern British Columbia. This is a high-stakes project involving complex electrical systems, including UPS units, redundant power distribution, and on-site backup generation.

This role is ideal for a construction leader who can bridge sophisticated engineering designs with field execution, ensuring every system is installed and commissioned to the highest standard of operational reliability. You will drive a culture of safety and quality among contractors and vendors while managing demanding commissioning cycles in a fast-moving environment.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in electrical construction management within heavy industrial or mission-critical environments, and is comfortable owning a project from design through full commissioning.

Key responsibilities

Project oversight & planning

Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of construction activities for power distribution, UPS systems, and redundant electrical infrastructure.

Track schedules and budgets, ensuring milestones are achieved on time and within scope.

Technical leadership

Review and interpret electrical and civil design documents, single-line diagrams, specifications, and submittals to confirm compliance with project requirements.

Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and IT/network teams to ensure seamless integration across systems.

Vendor & contractor management

Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality installation.

Commissioning, safety & risk

  • Oversee testing, inspection, and commissioning of electrical systems, including UPS, generators, switchgear, and redundant power paths.
  • Ensure all work adheres to applicable codes, safety standards, and internal quality requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to electrical infrastructure and system reliability.

Stakeholder communication

Provide clear, regular updates to project leadership and stakeholders on progress, challenges, and

solutions.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in electrical construction management, ideally within mission-critical
  • environments (data centers, hospitals, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of UPS systems, generators, switchgear, PDUs, redundant A/B power distribution, and liquid cooling technologies.
  • Proven track record managing large-scale electrical construction projects from design through commissioning.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (CEC, NFPA, etc.).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in data center, utility, or other mission-critical infrastructure construction.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng/PE) license or PMP certification.
