Job description

Are you an experienced Class 1 Driver seeking a stable, full-time career opportunity in the manufacturing & logistics industry? We are hiring a dedicated, safety-oriented Class 1 Driver to manage local, regional, and provincial freight operations out of Burnaby. This permanent position offers a competitive compensation rate of $34.00 per hour, dynamic day-to-day responsibilities, and a supportive team environment. As a professional Class 1 Driver, you will play a vital role in keeping essential supply chains moving efficiently across British Columbia.

What you need to know:

Main Hub: Burnaby, BC
Pay Rate: $34/hour
Position: Permanent

Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle Operation: Safely operate a variety of commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailer units, medium-duty trucks, and delivery vans to transport essential goods.
Warehouse & Logistics Operations: Assist with daily warehouse tasks such as inspecting incoming/outgoing shipments, managing load distribution, picking orders, and operating material-handling machinery.

Schedule & Shift Details:
Standard Hours: Local routes run Monday through Friday with staggered start times (6:00 AM – 2:00 PM, 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM, or 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM), subject to operational needs.
Long-Haul & Overtime: Requires signing an averaging agreement for regional/provincial long-haul trips with occasional overtime.
Flexibility Required: Must be open to shift rotations covering Saturdays and statutory holidays.

Responsibilities
• Operate various vehicles, including tractor-trailers, medium-duty trucks, and delivery vans, to safely haul products across local and regional routes.
• Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections using digital inspection platforms, reporting any defects or damage immediately.
• Load and unload trucks and vans while adhering to axle weight capacities and proper weight distribution to maximize transit efficiency.
• Prepare, verify, weigh, load, and ship assigned customer orders while completing all accompanying data entry and paperwork accurately.
• Partner with shipping and receiving teams to assist in general warehouse duties, including operating industrial machinery, order picking, sorting, cleaning, and inventory management.
• Inspect inbound and outbound shipments for order accuracy, overall product quality, and potential damages.
• Ensure proper put-away processes for returned inventory across ambient, fresh, dry, and frozen storage areas.
• Maintain ongoing knowledge of internal operational procedures while offering peer training and support to fellow drivers as needed.
• Keep assigned vehicles and functional work areas organized, clean, and safe at all times.
• Communicate effectively with team leads, logistics managers, vendors, and external distribution partners.

Qualifications
• Valid British Columbia Class 1 Driver's License.
• Minimum of 3 years of verifiable commercial driving experience.
• Provision of a clean 3-year driver’s abstract and a 3-year commercial insurance claims history.
• At least 1 year of experience operating industrial machinery in a warehouse setting is highly advantageous.
• Ability to meet physical requirements, including regular bending and lifting up to 50 lbs in varying temperature and noisy warehouse conditions.
• Strong working knowledge of commercial driving safety regulations, transport laws, and load securement procedures.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills across both digital correspondence and in-person interactions.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, route planning, time management, and resource allocation abilities.
• Shift availability: Local routes run Mon–Fri starting at 6:00 AM, 6:30 AM, or 7:00 AM (8-hour shifts).
• Flexibility to accommodate operational shift adjustments, overtime under an averaging agreement for longer-haul trips, and shift rotations for Saturdays and statutory holidays.
