The electronic protective services (EPS) analyst administers, supports, and coordinates the university's electronic protective services technologies, including access control, video surveillance, alarm management, and related security systems. This position oversees platform operations, supports service delivery, and participates in the implementation and maintenance of security technology initiatives across the institution. This role performs system configuration, troubleshooting, field assessments, inspections, testing, and verification activities while supporting operational and project-based requirements.

The analyst contributes to the development and maintenance of standards, procedures, documentation, and operational practices that support EPS services. Working closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, vendors, and technology partners, this position supports the ongoing operation, expansion, and improvement of electronic security technologies. Working in both office and field environments, the analyst engages in operational support, project participation, and lifecycle management activities.

This position will be based in-person at the University of Saskatchewan campus in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The position may be eligible for hybrid work under the terms of USask's Alternative Workspace Guidelines. Occasional evening or weekend work is required to support critical systems or scheduled maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assesses service requests, operational requirements, and technical issues and determines appropriate solutions aligned with established standards, procedures, and service offerings.
  • Provides technical consultation and participates in the planning, design, and implementation of projects involving EPS technologies.
  • Performs installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, commissioning, and remediation activities in collaboration with internal stakeholders, contractors, vendors, and technology partners.
  • Troubleshoots complex issues affecting EPS platforms and supporting technologies.
  • Configures and maintains EPS systems, including controllers, field devices, access groups, schedules, role-based access controls, identity integrations, and related system components.
  • Supports project lifecycle activities, including intake, requirements gathering, field assessments, site assessments, project walkthroughs, solution development, commissioning, testing, operational acceptance, and transition-to-operations processes for new installations, upgrades, and system expansions.
  • Performs field inspections and verification activities to confirm installations comply with approved designs, specifications, standards, and operational requirements.
  • Develops and maintains technical documentation, inventories, asset records, cable records, commissioning records, support procedures, and configuration information.
  • Participates in the development and continuous improvement of EPS standards, procedures, governance artifacts, and operational practices.
  • Monitors system health, performance, and service delivery metrics, identifies opportunities for operational improvement, and performs lifecycle management activities, including upgrades, firmware updates, configuration reviews, preventative maintenance, and technical issue remediation.
  • Responds to incidents, service requests, and operational support requirements related to EPS technologies and supports service restoration activities.
  • Participates in scheduled maintenance activities to support critical systems, upgrades, and service continuity.
  • Communicates and acts in a respectful and professional manner, collaborates effectively, abides by policy, and contributes to a positive and productive work and learning environment.
  • Engages in continuous learning by participating in activities, training, and events related to Indigenous engagement, reconciliation, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrates respect and dignity for all members of the community, actively contributes to an environment of acceptance and inclusion of others, and responds to different perspectives from a place of curiosity, respect, and non-judgement.
  • Undertakes related duties, as assigned, consistent with the nature of the position.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, engineering technology, electronics technology, telecommunications, physical security, or a related field.
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license and ability to travel between campus locations.
  • Industry certifications related to physical security technologies, access control systems, video surveillance systems, networking, cybersecurity, project coordination, or service management are assets.
  • Manufacturer certifications for access control, video surveillance, or alarm systems are assets.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in electronic access control, video surveillance systems, alarm management systems, physical security technologies, building systems, systems administration, or networking.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities across software, hardware, networking, and integrated technology environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, floor plans, construction documentation, specifications, and system diagrams.
  • Strong organizational, planning, documentation, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Sound judgment, attention to detail, and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical activities, including equipment handling, site inspections, work in confined areas, and limited work at heights.
