Currently we are accepting applications for the position of Security Patroller at the Vancouver International Airport who is responsible for the safety and security of both inside and outside the terminal.

Job Functions

  • Respond to and log security incident reports.
  • Respond to all dispatched calls.
  • Proactive patrols not limited to:
    1. Verify integrity of all Primary Security Line doors, gates, fences, hatches and screens at least once per 12-hour period and ensure all identified items are documented and submitted to SOC for follow up;
    2. Advise SOC of any major faults in the primary security line and remain onsite at the fault location until resolution;
    3. Actively patrol restricted areas, including terminal sterile areas, baggage make-up areas, apron areas and aircraft movement areas, and identify any security or safety threats immediately and work to resolution where necessary;
    4. Respond to alarms and/or security threats, or to security breaches of the Primary Security Line and take appropriate corrective action
    5. Patrol public, curbside, and tenanted areas to ensure integrity of security, and identify deficiencies;
    6. Monitor adherence to security related programs in public and tenanted areas by tenants;
    7. Investigate any unattended baggage and vehicles, following procedures for dealing with unattended baggage as required including documentation around equipment and process; and
    8. Identify persons committing acts of trespass and advise SOC (in cooperation with the RCMP where necessary).
    9. Enforcement of regulations and issuing violations when necessary
  • Enforcement of regulations and issuing violations when necessary pertaining to AVOP, RAIC, and TEVOP
  • Provide Customer Service to both passengers and employees
  • Other duties as directed by the Shift Supervisor or his designate.

Job Requirements

  • At least 1 year of security experience.
  • Valid Security License with the Province of British Columbia
  • Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP) - D
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License with the Province of British Columbia with Clean Drivers Abstract
  • Ability to work twelve (12) hours, rotating between days and evenings (overnight)
  • Candidates must be physically fit with the ability to sit, stand, patrol and climb stairs for a twelve (12) hours shift
  • Ability to problem solve and situational awareness
  • Have access to vehicle to travel to and from work

Clearance Requirements (RAIC) & Training

For many of Securiguard's positions based at our Vancouver Airport Branch, candidates must have the ability to obtain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC). This clearance involves a background check based on 5 years of history.

Successful candidates will then be trained in Aviation Security and, upon passing the examination, will receive an AVSEC certification.
