The Project Engineer will provide technical leadership and engineering support for projects at an operating mine site near Kamloops, BC, ensuring all work is completed in accordance with engineering, safety, and operational standards. Responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing engineering drawings, developing technical specifications, and working closely with project teams, site operations, contractors, and other stakeholders to define project requirements.

The Project Engineer will also support the Project Manager in developing project scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and execution plans. The successful candidate will lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and consultants in the development, review, and delivery of technical documentation and engineering deliverables for a variety of capital and site-based projects. The role will require regular collaboration with site personnel to ensure projects are practical, constructible, and aligned with the operational requirements of the mine.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed project plans that include scope, schedule and budget.
  • Review and approve engineering designs, ensuring they meet project specifications.
  • Work closely with relevant stakeholders, contractors, and vendors to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Monitor project progress and address any technical issues.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Prepare required reports and forecasts.
  • Manage and allocate resources, including personnel, materials, and equipment.
  • Conduct ongoing risk assessments – identifying and developing strategies to reduce risks

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of project engineering experience, preferably in mining
  • Gold mine or heavy industrial project experience
  • Experience managing projects from engineering through construction and commissioning
  • Strong understanding of project cost, schedule, scope, and change management
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Experience coordinating contractors, consultants, vendors, and site teams
  • Proficient with MS Project, P6, Excel, or similar
  • Strong communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills
  • P.Eng. or eligibility is an asset
