Job description

Job Description

As a Host, you are the heartbeat of the guest experience. As the first and final impression of the space, you set the tone by welcoming guests, managing reservations, and intuitively guiding the flow, energy, and transitions of the venue throughout the day and into the evening. Your warmth, organization, and attention to detail ensure every guest feels welcomed, cared for, and eager to return.

What You'll Be Doing

Guest Welcome & First Impressions

  • Welcome guests with warmth, confidence, and genuine hospitality from the moment they arrive.
  • Manage guest arrivals, departures, and seating with intention, ensuring every interaction feels personal and polished.
  • Create a calm, welcoming atmosphere during both high-volume and intimate service periods.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable and approachable point of contact for guests throughout their experience.

Reservations, Flow & Room Rhythm

  • Manage reservations, waitlists, and walk-in flow using reservation systems and real-time floor awareness.
  • Coordinate closely with servers and bartenders to ensure smooth pacing and balanced service.
  • Monitor dining room and bar energy, supporting seamless transitions between dayparts and evening service.
  • Anticipate pressure points and adjust seating and timing to maintain a relaxed, intentional guest experience.

Communication & Coordination

  • Communicate key guest information clearly to the team, including VIPs, regulars, special occasions, and requests.
  • Support service teams by sharing real-time updates on flow, timing, and guest expectations.
  • Act as a connector between guests and the floor team, ensuring needs are acknowledged and met promptly.

Standards, Organization & Presentation

  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and visual standards of the host stand, lobby, and entry areas.
  • Uphold brand presentation, tone, and atmosphere at all times.

Qualifications

What You Bring

  • Alberta ProServe required
  • Previous experience in a luxury hotel, restaurant, or guest-facing environment preferred

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a natural ability to connect warmly with guests.
  • Calm, composed presence in fast-paced and evolving environments.
  • Excellent organizational skills and comfort managing multiple priorities at once.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency in process and presentation.

Who You Are

You are patient, welcoming, and quietly confident. You enjoy creating order in dynamic environments and take pride in being the steady presence guests rely on. You understand that the tone of a space is set long before the first drink is poured — and you take that responsibility seriously.

You are observant and thoughtful, able to read the room and guide its rhythm with subtle adjustments and clear communication. You thrive in structured environments where consistency matters and teamwork is essential.

Welcome with warmth. Guide with intention. Stay moved.
