Job description
Our client, a leading global distribution company, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their growing finance team. In this role, you will oversee the full-cycle accounting for multiple group entities, collaborate closely with the Director of Finance, and present financial results directly to the Chairman.

Responsibilities
- Prepare, complies, reconcile, review, analyses, and interpret daily, weekly, and monthly (month-end) direct and indirect cost, cost fluctuations, unit/branch utilization, efficiency, and reports to required local, legal, and Corporate standards.
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly internal reporting materials for presentation to Executive Team and Board members.
- Prepare draft financial statements
- Assists in the preparation of the annual budget, capital plan, monthly-forecast, and (weekly) financial results reports to required standards.
- Assists in preparation of weekly Cash Forecast, and Hedging contracts
- Maintains fixed asset sub-ledger and reconciles to general ledger accounts to required standards
- Provide qualitative analysis to develop relevant reports leading to cost reductions
- Prepares and reconciles our general account ledgers, journal vouchers, and balance sheet accounts to required standards.
- Review monthly GL reconciliation including all major balance sheet accounts (A/R, A/P, fixed assets, prepaids)
- Review expense coding for employee reimbursements, utilities, and direct bill payments
- Reviews monthly sales tax returns (GST, HST, PST, QST), as well as PST self-assessment package
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience with a strong foundation in technical accounting.
- Corporate Background: Proven experience working within medium-to-large companies, including a solid understanding of regulatory financial filings.
- Consolidation Skills: Experience with consolidation accounting in a multi-divisional or multi-entity corporate environment is considered a strong asset.
- Core Competencies: A proactive, highly organized professional with excellent collaboration and teamwork skills.
