Role Summary

The Data Visualization Designer, Sr Consultant draws the connections between data, storytelling, and visual conceptualization and helps create dynamic user experiences for our internal teams and clients.

They analyze data, derive answers and represent them in a visual way that creates insight and action to meet our clients' needs.

They work with Architects, Designers, Business Analysts, and Developers to provide quality deliverables.

This position does not have any direct reports.

Major Areas of Responsibility

• Delivery Excellence
• Develop a deep, multilayered understanding of the business issues and the data challenges of the clients' organizations and their industries.
• Demonstrate collegial teamwork internally and with clients.
• Participate in the development of project plans and schedules.Data Visualization
• Develop a deep understanding of what data the customer needs and how the customer wants to use data and create an accurate representation of that workflow (Journey mapping, wireframing and other methods).
• Learn and use cutting edge tech to rapidly generate interactive and custom visualization for communicating data that drive insights on different platforms (e.

g. : Windows, web, mobile, etc).

• Champion visual design best practices and visual cognition concepts.
• Create new concepts, mockups, wireframes, user experiences and designs for clients.
• Enhance and drive our formal user interface and experience processes.
• Data and application flow redesign.Innovation
• Apply new technologies to improve work efforts when available
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of, and adopt, relevant market trends and practices

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other

• Detailed, practical working knowledge in :
• Data visualization best practices
• How to elicit requirements, dig deep for details and engage clients in discovery discussions
• Ability to deliver in multiple software development lifecycle models
• Translating but not placating customers; clarifying ambiguities and presenting information in a way that is structured, visually engaging and makes sense
• Advanced knowledge in :
• User experience design methodologies
• Design software (Axure RP, Balsamiq, MockFlow, Adobe XD, etc),
• Tableau
• Above average skills in :
• Communication, collaboration, and flexibility
• Innovation, creative, solution-based approaches to solving problems
• Level-headed decision making and ability to think on your feet
• Working independently, delivery high quality work, time management.
• Leadership and integrity
• Customizing and developing creatively stunning and dynamic visualizations
• UI and UX processes, tools and skills for Web and Mobile in the context of data discovery
• Approaching situations with a consultative mindset :
• Be receptive to change while maintaining adherence to scope, deliverables and project objectives
• Defer issues as open questions to be addressed and follow-up with closure actions
• Recognize and highlight scope changes early and manage expectations on achievability
• Maintain open communications with Project X regarding client relations & project status

Required Education and Experience :

• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Software or Computer Science / Engineering fields or related industry experience or acumen
• Must have UI / UX experience
• Around 5-8 years' experience on data visualization projects including three as a Data Visualization Specialist
• Tableau Certified Consultant or Tableau Certified Architect (Nice to have)
• 3+ years of hands-on SQL for data analysis
