POSITION SUMMARY

Dentons Canada is seeking an experienced professional to join the Toronto office as Senior Manager, Student Programs . At its heart, our business is about our people.

Reporting to the Director of Talent, Ontario and working with the Toronto office Student Committee, this role is responsible for all aspects of the Toronto office’s student program including recruitment, liaising with Canadian law schools to promote the Firm, and the performance management and professional development of our students.

Responsibilities also include working with the Directors of Talent in each of our Canadian offices, and consulting with our Canada Director of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity, to embed inclusion best practices in all of our student and recruitment processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and implement innovative recruitment strategies aimed at promoting the Dentons Canada LLP brand to prospective students and developing a diverse candidate pool.
  • Plan, organize and execute all recruiting events at law schools, including presentations and career fairs, on behalf of the Toronto office.
  • Manage the end-to-end student recruitment process, including resume screening, on-campus interviews, in-firm interviews, candidate selection and offers.
  • Manage the student experience at Dentons from the time of hire to the end of their articles, including their onboarding, orientation and training, performance management, workflow, mentoring, and social events.
  • Develop and oversee the Toronto office budget for student program expenses.
  • Assist with other Talent priorities and projects.

REQUIREMENTS

  • An LL.B or J.D. and several years of legal practice experience together with experience in recruitment. Experience in a similar professional services industry will be considered.
  • Demonstrated interest in recruitment, development of people, and inclusion and diversity.
  • An innovative mindset, developed leadership skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team across the Firm.
  • Ability to conduct behavioural and competency-based interviews.
  • Strong organizational, strategic planning and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize key deliverables.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, and engaging and effective presentation skills.
  • Self-motivation, flexibility and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superior networking and relationship building skills, with the ability to influence by building credibility and inspiring confidence at all levels.
