Working Chief Engineer - 3rd Class - 2024-104-SB
The Working Chief Engineer is responsible to maintain heating, ventilation and air-conditioning equipment, electrical systems that control the flow of both utility and self-generated emergency power, and more visible systems such as elevators, grounds and lighting.

Shift and Hours of Work : 1.0FTE - full-time - hours of work currently 07 : 30 - 15 : 45 (Summer); 07 : 30 - 19 : 30 / 19 : 30 - 07 : 30 (Winter)
Pay Scale : As per CUPE Collective Agreement

Required Qualifications
Education :
Valid Manitoba or Inter-provincial 3rd Class Power Engineer Certificate to assume responsibility as plant chief.
Experience :
- Minimum of 5 years experience in Power Engineering field at the current level;
- Maintenance and use of fire protection and firefighting equipment;
- Maintaining all aspects of a Preventative Maintenance Program;
- Acceptable training and experience in the ongoing operation and maintenance of a large facility, preferably healthcare; and
- Experience in the use of personal computers and various software.
Abilities and Skills :
- Ability to evaluate necessary management information from a Preventative Maintenance Program to ensure required maintenance routines and repairs have been carried out, including knowledge of HIPPO;
- Ability to train and develop employees;
- Ability to communicate well orally and in writing in both official languages (French & English);
- Ability to understand technical language & manuals;
- Demonstrated leadership in fostering an open and respectful work environment;
- Demonstrated independent and collaborative decision making skills;
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills;
- Must be in good physical and mental health;
- Ability to demonstrate a satisfactory employment record, including attendance; and
- Current Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable sector and Adult Abuse Registry Check deemed satisfactory by the Employer.
Knowledge :
- The Power Engineers Acts;
- The ability to work within a team in establishing best practices within budgetary constraints; and
- Safe and proper methods of operating / maintaining and repairing structural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems in a large facility.
This position is designated bilingual (French / English). All staff are hired for the facility. Employees may hold more than one position in different Actionmarguerite facilities, where the sum total of hours does not exceed 1.
