About Our Opportunity

As the Supply Chain Specialist, you will be responsible for the strategic planning for all sourcing, inventory management, expediting, warehousing, and distribution of various goods and services for assigned government projects, including but not limited to Nova Scotia School Capital Projects.

The Specialist is responsible to ensure the delivery of the furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) requirements for the educational programs mandated by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to project stakeholders and clients by establishing a preliminary budget, developing product specifications, setting timelines for the delivery of goods, and working with suppliers to ensure the necessary products are provided on-time and on-budget.
  • Leading and being the key supporting role in the development of the special provisions for tender documents, managing the tendering process which includes but is not limited to coordinating the related plans and specifications for tender call, and developing schedules for tender through liaison with Procurement.
  • Prepare purchase orders, document receipt of goods and approve invoices for payment using the procurement and accounting modules of SAP.
  • Organize and / or participate in highly collaborative project meetings to ensure all project tasks and deadlines are met.
  • Supervise junior staff and / or provide functional guidance and direction to outside stakeholders and public funded entities.

Qualifications and Experience

As the ideal candidate, you will require a post-secondary degree in Business, Commerce, or Supply Chain. A minimum of 5 years of progressive supply chain experience is required, preferably with a well-rounded knowledge of scheduling, planning, procurement, inventory, and disposal functions.

A professional with several years’ experience in supply chain management including scheduling, planning, procurement, inventory, and disposal functions will be considered.

A professional designation / certificate in the supply chain field such as CSCMP, SCMP, NISCL, SMT, P.Log, CCLP or PSPP is considered an asset.

Frequent travel across the province is a requirement of this position; as such, a valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle and a clean driving record is required.

As the ideal candidate, you have :

  • Experience in assisting clients with specification development, scanning the market for suitable goods, purchasing, and following orders through to delivery & deficiency resolution
  • Strong problem solving and project management competencies
  • Experience leading projects
  • Experience in managing inventory systems
  • The ability to process a large volume of work under tight deadlines

You are responsive and able to prioritize a high volume of competing and sometimes rapid requests. You are an excellent relationship builder, self-starter, and are effective in working in a team-orientated environment, with the ability to undertake complex assignments without supervision.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools : written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Working Conditions

This role is primarily based in a comfortable office environment, and you may be working at your computer for extended periods of time.

You may be required to travel within the province to visit sites or regional offices.

Pay Grade : PR 13

Salary Range : $2,556.10 - $3,107.16 Bi-Weekly
