The Application Engineer provides technical support throughout the organization focused in areas of HVAC and Fire pump systems.
Key role revolves around preparation and coordination of proposals for equipment including catalogued and engineered to order (ETO) plant packages which include Heat Transfer packages, Pump packages, Boiler packages, Chiller / cooling tower plant packages, Control Systems and others as defined by the marketing program.
This position is in Toronto, Ontario, with possible travel to USA.In addition to annual initiatives, the key accountabilities of this position are : Application Engineering Provides application engineering expertise in product assistance for sales and customers throughout Americas, Europe, Middle East, and Asia.
These products range from prefabricated packaged systems to automation and controls. Provides application engineering expertise in site audit analysis for HVAC energy conservation.
Assist in all related activities in sales & customer technical support and takes ownership and responsibility for solving customer issues.
Collaborate with different departments to propose best solution offerings to customers such as consulting engineers and contractors.
Provides feedback to other departments as required and leads and / or participates in applicable Project Teams involving strategic initiatives and product development.
Ensures that solutions are captured as a technical artifact on our computer software. Assists in developing and maintaining departmental policies and procedures.
Proposal Generation Ability to review detailed building plans and blueprints. Identify key areas of HVAC and FIRE pump systems that can be used in prefabricated packages.
Create cost builds of proposed systems (packages and automation). Generate proposals for these systems and present findings to sales or to representative network.
Proper filing and tracking of the issued proposal (documents, price, terms, cost information, and details of RFQ). Creating energy analysis models for buildings.
Interacts with engineering and project management staff to ensure a smooth handover of proposals (at time order receipt).
Maintains and continuously improves costing analysis, with feedback from engineering and project management teams. Maintains company CRM project tracking software.
Customer Engagement Maintains good relationships with customers and representative network. Strives to constantly improve business agility and speed of response.
Interacts with Company marketing operatives to provide feedback on initiatives. Analyzes and reports customer feedback for continuous customer serving improvement.
Supports special projects as assigned by management. Role Requirements University Degree or equivalent. Minimum of 5 experience working with engineering, manufacturing, and distribution operations in an industrial environment Minimum 4 years specification review and proposal creation experience.
Experience with projects of significant complexity and over $700,000 in project cost Demonstrated knowledge of centrifugal pumping principles, general practices and ANSI, ASHRAE regulations, policies, and procedures Demonstrated knowledge of fire pumps, general practices and NFPA20 regulations, policies, and procedures.
Creative problem-solving skills, conflict management within different organizations (centralized and matrix organizational structures) Ability to break down complex problems in a simplified way, conduct root cause analysis and provide clear, well-thought-out recommendations.
Strong, team-oriented leadership skills with presence and a bias for action. Self-directed with ability to work autonomously and collaboratively and a focus on results.
