Primary Role of This Position
The National Credit Manager is responsible for a large and diverse portfolio requiring excellent credit risk management skills, expertise in customer security agreements along with strong process and systems knowledge.
This role will collaborate with the Credit and Collections Supervisor, on setting credit policies, monitoring credit lines, and collecting on past due and problem accounts.
Major Responsibilities
- Minimize and manage credit risk of customer accounts
- Oversee collection of corporate and independent pharmacy accounts
- Evaluate potential customers’ creditworthiness
- Work closely with Sales, Customer Service, and Finance to ensure all credit related matters are addressed in a timely manner
- Establish credit policies and procedures that are consistent with industry standards and company goals
- Monitor and manage customer credit limits, making recommendations for changes when necessary
- Demonstrate initiative to streamline processes and implement controls to ensure completeness, accuracy and efficiency
- Develop and maintain positive business relationships with our customers through regular communications and personal visits to further support credit recommendations
- Prepare reports and provide analysis of credit and collections data to senior management
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to credit and collections
- Create a strong and motivated team environment providing guidance and training as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in credit and collections management, preferably in a pharmaceutical or healthcare environment
- CCP Designation
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of credit policies, procedures, and practices
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- Ability to lead and manage a team of professionals
- Being bilingual is an asset
- Solid understanding of legal process relating to credit issues
- Strong business process acumen with ability to clearly identify issues and work with other functions to address changing business requirements or process improvements
