Relief Addiction and Mental Health Worker, Supportive Housing Direct Service - (OPSEU) London, Ontario (London Zone) - Application Deadline : October 24, 2024 - This position will provide relief coverage to three of our 24 / 7 Supportive Housing Programs;

Transitional Residential Treatment Facility, Youth Housing & Long Stay Residential Treatment Facility. Every person in our community has the right to safe, affordable, quality housing and to live with dignity and as much independence and choice as possible.

As a member of the Transitional Residential Treatment Facility, Youth Housing & Long Stay Residential Treatment Facility, this role is a float position that will engage you to support individuals who experience addictions and / or mental health concerns and have struggled with housing stability.

Your team will be at the ready to provide early support and intervention, when clients need it most. By supporting clients in our supportive living apartments and through outreach in the larger community, you'll help prevent concerns from escalating to a point that would have resulted in eviction, accomplishing our goal of keeping our clients housed.

Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 2 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.

74 per hour (Level 1 Direct Service), with a wage differential, based on regulation ( $29.57 per hour for Level 1 Direct Service, Regulated) : Successful candidates who are registered with one of the designated professional colleges (e.

g. OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO) will receive the wage differential for regulation Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8 ($33.

90 per hour for non-regulated, and $36.71 per hour for regulated) For internal applicants, grid level placement will occur as per the Collective Agreement When you'll work - Shift length in this program varies, up to and including 10-hr shifts;

this is a 24-hour program and relief shifts will include days, afternoons, overnights, weekends, and statutory holidays.

Relief staff have flexibility to accept shifts that suit their schedules up to a maximum of 44 hours per week, but will commit to accepting a minimum of three shifts per month.

Your pension plan - Immediately eligible for optional enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE : Work with clients and help motivate / support them to work towards achievement of their goals Champion each client’s capacity for independent community living Assist clients to maintain suitable housing Facilitate and implement resident meetings Provide health teaching about addiction, mental illness and symptom management Crisis intervention and prevention Assist and coach clients in the learning and management / achievement of activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, daily chores, budgeting, socialization etc.

Advocate for and support clients in accessing community resources Documentation related to clients Ensure effective communication with Director, Managers, staff team, and external treatment teams concerning each participant’s progress Identify, promote resolution, and management of all emergency situations concerning participants, staff, and property Make decisions both independently and collaboratively Manage a caseload of clients involved in the agency’s supportive housing program Conduct standardized assessment using approved tools to determine specific needs, goals, characteristics, problems, stage of change and eligibility into the program and overall treatment Conduct a life skills assessment to determine client’s specific needs to enhance independent living capabilities and promote self-efficacy (e.

g. money management, food preparation, fire safety, housekeeping, etc.) Support individualized treatment plans and provide input or feedback to a primary counsellor Maximize client participation in programming and pro-social community activities;

actively promote self-efficacy according to a Motivational Interviewing approach. This will also include activities such as early intervention, relapse prevention, crisis intervention, follow-up and recovery maintenance Assist clients to meet their rent payment obligations through monitoring and defining individual responsibilities, and by liaising with the landlord and / or the Supportive Housing partner as necessary WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY : Police Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months.
