Overview
Recovery Community Centre Worker – The Salvation Army in Canada. Casual / Relief position with no set hours or schedule.

Position Purpose
The Recovery Community Centre Worker is responsible for ensuring that all administrative processes at the Recovery Community Centre are conducted efficiently. They report to the Recovery Community Centre Supervisor and assist in delivering programs and services offered at the Centre.
Accountabilities
- Role Specific Responsibilities
- Initiate recovery plan development and implementation as needed, within the centre and with community partners.
- Initiate and / or participate in case conferences for problem solving and exploring alternative solutions to service provision.
- Solicit regular feedback from individuals served and relevant community supports regarding wellbeing, including mental health and addictions recovery, and document progress toward goals.
- Assess individuals’ strengths, needs, and preferences, and identify factors impacting the individual; introduce goal planning as a result.
- Provide regular and intensive support to motivate individuals toward their goals.
- Be part of the designated primary team of workers for individuals residing in the recovery centre pre- and post-treatment transitional rooms.
- Create and maintain an individual crisis plan and communicate support needs to reduce EMS / LPS utilization where applicable.
- Assist and coach individuals in learning and managing quality-of-life activities (recovery living, daily living, safety, healthy lifestyles, social / spirituality, community living, advocacy).
- Advocate, refer and connect individuals with appropriate services and resources (formal and informal) based on their needs.
- Complete discharge packages at transition points outlining progress and future recommendations.
- Ensure effective communication with leadership, staff, and external treatment teams regarding each individual’s progress.
- Assist the Leadership Team in developing and implementing programs for clients requiring individualized interventions to participate in the community.
- Monitor and record changes in clients’ functioning; observe / manage lapses / relapses in the continuum of addiction.
- Provide individual support and group facilitation.
- Administration
- Perform administrative duties for client documentation (GAINS-S, Q3, Case Conference minutes) and related computer entries.
- Maintain documentation and records (time sheets, vacation requests, education / travel claims) within required timeframes.
- Record maintenance repairs on work orders and submit via online submission tool.
- Service Responsibilities
- Assist in delivering programs and services at the Recovery Centre.
- Maintain supply room contents and ensure clients have adequate personal items and clothing.
- Regularly patrol the floor including living areas to ensure safety and order.
- Implement daily communication practices across the service team as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and consent processes for client information.
- Suggest improvements to efficiency, working conditions, or procedures to the Supervisor.
- Liaise with community workers and agencies; represent the organization professionally.
- Ensure clients return Centre of Hope belongings upon departure.
- Enforce agency rules and guidelines consistently.
- Identify, address, and manage emergency situations concerning individuals, staff, and property.
- Health and Safety
- Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Salvation Army policies.
- Collaborate with security to identify safety needs; follow safety procedures (fire, etc.).

Internal : Work with Centre of Hope departments, security, and front desk staff; participate in staff meetings.

Working Conditions
Supervisor sets hours and schedule. Normal work location is 281 Wellington Street, London, ON and outreach locations.

Compensation
The target hiring range is $28.89 to $29.32, with a maximum of $29.74. Placement depends on market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications. The Salvation Army offers accommodations on request via Recruitment.Accommodations@salvationarmy.ca.
