As a Lead Lighting Artist at Certain Affinity, you'll be instrumental in guiding the vision for one of our co-development projects.

You'll put your skill, talent, and experience to use supporting the mood, gameplay, and artistic vision on a high-profile AAA game by collaborating with other leaders across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Work with the art director, partner, and design team to bring color and life to a highly immersive world
• Lead and mentor a team of lighting artists and drive the visual style / quality bar for lighting across our projects.
• Communicate plans and goals for lighting visually to coordinate with stakeholders across the project
• Use your knowledge of advancing technology and tools to continually improve lighting pipelines and improve team efficiency
• Scope out deliverables, schedule, and manage expectations for the lighting team
• Proactively create content that is performant and leaves overhead for other stakeholders
• Use your skills with atmospheric effects, practical sources, time of day, color, and cinematography to support the needs of the project

Requirements

• 4+ years of lighting experience in the game industry
• 2+ years of leadership experience
• Shipped 2+ AAA titles as a lighting artist
• Solid proficiency in Unreal, especially with Lumen
• Deep understanding of PBR, lighting systems, and rendering technology
• Excellent understanding of lighting pipelines and workflows as they relate to game development
• Must be able to initiate visual direction without a specific concept or design
• Displays a high level of mentorship abilities and is willing to support and train other members on the team
• A desire to work in and support a diverse and inclusive environment
