The Investigaytors is a community health leadership program that equips young queer, trans, non-binary and Two-Spirit people with the social connections, health knowledge, and community-based research skills they need to be health leaders in their communities.

The primary objective of the Investigaytors program is capacity-building through hands-on research experience grounded in the principles of community-based research.

With a focus on the sexual and reproductive health of 2SLGBTQIA+ people, program participants will learn the research skills necessary to conduct and analyze data from a national survey.

Your opportunity :

The Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work (FIFSW), University of Toronto s CRUISElab (cruiselab.ca) in collaboration with the Community-Based Research Center (CBRC) are seeking a passionate and organized Program Coordinator to provide administrative and program support to The Investigaytors program.

Working under the direction of Dr. David Brennan, Founder and Director of CRUISElab and Associate Dean, Research, and with the community / academic mentorship team, the successful incumbent will be responsible for coordinating all administrative aspects of the Investigaytors project and the CRUISElab including meeting / training logistics and facilitation, literature review, drafting training session guides and assisting with the development of the curriculum.

This role is currently eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, pursuant to University policies and guidelines, including but not limited to the University of Toronto’s Alternative Work Arrangements Guideline .

Your responsibilities will include :

  • Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items; Taking and distributing meeting minutes
  • Tracking milestones and timelines
  • Developing task schedules in concert with project schedules
  • Generating reports
  • Determining logistical details and activities for events and / or programming
  • Collecting and submitting expense reimbursement claims
  • Directing the work of volunteers in defined activities
  • Facilitate weekly training sessions with guest visitors.

Essential Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience providing administrative and program support in a research environment.
  • Experience working and engaging with 2SLGBTQ+ communities.
  • Experience disseminating program information including posting online advertisements to attract program participants
  • Experience recruiting program participants and coordinating meetings / events
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining information on digital platforms
  • Strong awareness and understanding of 2SLGBTQ+ cultural and political values and sensitivities
  • Strong technical skills and experience using MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and related databases
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience editing content brochures, newsletters, websites, and handbooks and drafting meeting minutes
  • Excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills, with the ability to be an effective team player
  • Excellent project coordination skills
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and independently

Assets (Nonessential) :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences, Statistics, Education or Social Sciences
  • Experience working or volunteering with community organizations
  • Experience conducting evaluation activities
  • Understanding of 2SLGBTQ+ health, specifically mental health
