JOB SUMMARY : Reporting to the Principal of Early Years, the EDP Supervisor directly supervises board operatedExtended Day Programs to ensure high quality, inclusive care for children ranging in age from JuniorKindergarten to Grade 6 in a manner that supports their growth and development and adheres to theEducation Act, the Early Childhood Educators Act, Family Services Act, Ministry Guidelines for Before-and-After School Programs and Upper Canada District School Board policies and procedures Note : Candidates not meeting every requirement of the position listed below under Qualifications are still encouraged to apply if they feel they are still a strong candidate for consideration. QUALIFICATIONS : Education & Experience : Bachelor level degree specializing in Early Childhood Education or a diploma in Early Childhood Educationfrom a recognized community college. Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators is required. Minimum of 2-3 years working as an ECE is required. Must possess a valid standard First Aid and CPR certificate. Previous supervisory experience of at least one year is required. Working knowledge level of Microsoft Office tools (e.g. email, spreadsheet, word processing.) Demonstrated exemplary knowledge of play-based learning as defined in the Kindergarten Program (2016),How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years and the Ministry Guidelines for Beforeand After School programs for Extended Day programs. BRIEF LIST OF DUTIES : Responsible for meeting with prospective parents to explain the enrolment policies / procedures and complete all required documentation including family child information, medical, explain the process for the collection of fees and record of payments, prepares and maintains all statistical information related to parent / child enrolment status.On a regular cycle, reports enrolment data and information to respective UCDSB departments for the purpose of billing to ensure correct invoicing to parents.Supervises staff assigned within the program, conducts orientation and training, and supports staff with age-appropriate programming for children.Ensures that staff documentation is archived (e.g. attendance, incidents, etc.) in accordance with the requirements set under the Childcare and Early Years Act.Ensures adequate supports are in place to support all children and families (Safety, Allergy, Medical and Support Plans.) Participates in ongoing team meetings and parent interviews.Daily, communicates with parents including responding to inquiries, updates / changes in program information, conflict resolution processes and the program’s daily operations (e.g. when the program is open / closed, hours of operation, policies / procedures.)Follows and actions steps as per UCDSB safe arrival procedures for EDP program.Instruct and train staff in specific work methods and procedures.Responsible for the nutritional requirements of the children are being met in accordance with Canada’s Food Guide and the Childcare and Early Years Act and Regulations, provides guidance and instruction on food quality, safety and quantity for the program when required.Listen to parental concerns and responds appropriately to parents regarding various matters (e.g. fees, scheduling care, health, medication, child development, etc.).Ensures that the daily duties of the staff are being carried out in accordance with the Childcare and Early Years Act and Regulations.Inspects program operations to ensure proper standards for food services and cleanliness are adhered to. Provides guidance, and support to assigned before and after program staff, assisting with program activities, classroom management strategies, handling minor disputes between children, ensures safety plans are followed and child allergy and medical information is shared with staff.May provide input related to performance to the primary supervisor for the staff member (e.g. school Principal.) Other Responsibilities Ensures adequate supply of all necessary equipment and materials.Ensures ECE to child ratios are maintained in the program at all times. Responsible for ensuring that policies and procedures as set forth by UCDSB are followed at all times. Maintain health and safety procedures in accordance with prescribed policies, laws and regulations.Communication and collaboration with school board employees (Principal, VP, Early Years System Principal and Superintendent.)Provides staff coverage to the EDP Program, when required.Performs other duties, as assigned, that are in accordance with job responsibilities or necessary EDP program objectives. Occasional travel, during the workday, is a requirement of the position.
