The Marine Engineer is a team player who assists with planning, preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance and other associated tasks as outlined below.
The individual maintains the vessels to provide our guests as well as our team with a safe, reliable and aesthetically pleasing fleet.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Assist in maintaining operations of Transport Canada Inspected Passenger Vessels in a manner that ensures the Safety and Security of the Crew, Enjoyment of the Passengers, and Respect for the Environment.
Leads repairs and maintenance of Transport Canada inspected passenger vessels.Adhere to all company policies.Supervise vessel sub-contracted services and repairs.
Maintains compliance paperwork as required.Routinely inspects all areas of the vessels for unsafe conditions.Assists the Director of Marine Operations in maintaining and arranging maintenance of the company's assets.
Assists in the completing of both on and off-season Repair and Maintenance projects.Assists in the completing of repair and maintenance budgets.
Assists in completing / creating preventative maintenance program.Assists in maintaining / sourcing parts inventory.Maintains and updates vessel logs as necessary.
Maintains and updates work orders.Complete on call shifts and has flexibility to work within operating hours.Performs other duties as assigned.
Standing, bending, stooping, and lifting weights up to or exceeding 50lbs may be required. The marine hospitality business functions outside typical business hours.
During the operating season, hours outside of a regular Monday- Friday schedule can be expected.QualificationsTo perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following skill sets to perform the essential functions of this position.
Fourth Class Marine Engineer Problem solving-the individual identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
Physical demands - the individual occasionally may have the ability to move or lift up to 50lbs.Planning / organizing-the individual prioritizes and plans work activities and uses time efficiently.
Quality control-the individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, monitors own work to ensure quality and applies feedback to improve performance.
Quantity-meets productivity standards and completes work in a timely manner and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
Dependability-the individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance.
