Senior Project Manager - Heavy Civil Construction

Underthe supervision of the Operations Director the Senior ProjectManager is responsible for the oversight of major projects assignedto him or her.

They plan direct organize coordinate and controlalone or with project managers the execution of one or moreconstruction projectssimultaneously.

Responsibilitiesinclude :

• Reviewtender documents the estimate to determine the scope of workincluding scheduling and projectplanning;
• Responsiblefor having a thorough and complete knowledge and understanding ofthe tender documents drawings specifications addendums and toassist the Site Superintendent in achieving the projectsuccess;
• Provideleadership and to establish and maintain effective and harmoniousrelationships with clients staff subcontractors consultants andworkers;
• Negotiationof agreements with subcontractors sign letters of intent afterdiscussion with the vice president verify agreements withsubcontractors and sign them (for subcontracts valued at less than$1million);
• Incollaboration with project managers and superintendents ensure thatthe work carried out meets the standards and the objectives set forquality safety and relations in the work quantity deadlines andcosts and take the necessary corrective action whenrequired;
• P rovideinput to help resolve problems related to a specificconcern;
• Monthlyverification and discussion with project managers of all costcontrols under his / her supervision and reporting to the OperationsDirector;
• Assignmentof staff to work sites in accordance with the policies of the humanresources department (salaries must be approved by the humanresources director) and monitor the productivity of resources underhis / her responsibility as well as operatingcosts;
• Ensuringcustomer satisfaction with a concern for safety costs schedule andquality ofwork;
• Ensuringthe application of and compliance with the EBC health and safetyestimate and site specific H&S programs for eachproject;
• Ensuringcompliance with the companys QA / QC system in accordance with theappropriate ISOstandard;
• P articipatein official inquiries by Government Officials according toestablished rules and provide projects with guidance to comply withorders;
• Followup on ISO procedures with operational staff. Responsible for sitekickoff meetings periodic reviews postmortems and participation inplanningreviews;
• Discussionof legal or litigation issues with the Operators Director and VPand ensuring properdocumentation;
• Managecommercial and project control matters of major projects including : change management procurement prime contract management costcontrol earned value management scheduling and riskmanagement;
• Developand enforce commercial / project controls policies processes andprocedures;
• Providecommercial and contractual advice and reports to Executives andProjectManagers ;
• Leadall claims and change management with respect to clients andsubcontractors;
• Performingall other tasks required for the execution of his / hermandate;
• Evaluatepersonnel under his / her responsibility according to companypolicies.

Requirements

• UniversityDegree / Technology Diploma in Engineering or a combination ofeducation and industryexperience;
• 10years experience in the construction industrypreferred;
• Pr eviouswork experience in Civil Engineering Construction including bridgesinfrastructure tunneling water / sewer and / or heavy civilconstruction isrequired;
• Aproven track record of project success and teamleadership;
• Goodknowledge of geology andgeotechnical;
• Strongexperience delivering large scale projects within a partnershipenvironment;
• Strongexperience with alternative delivery mode projects (Design BuildP3);
• Strongknowledge of financial management as well as building codes andassociatedlegislation;
• Advancedskills in management negotiation communication and problemsolvingarerequired;
• Goodcomputer skills and previous experience with schedulingsoftware;
• B ilingual(an asset) but proficiency in English language with excellentcommunication skills (written and verbal) isrequired.
