We have an exciting opportunity to join our National Underwriting Team, Risk-Can , as a Commercial Underwriting Manager working from one of our offices in the Greater Toronto Area on a Permanent (FT) Basis.

What the Role Entails :
Help us achieve our objective of becoming a leading Canadian MGA provider. As the Risk-Can Commercial Underwriting Manager you will be responsible for leading a high performing team and contributing to the strategy and success of Risk-Can .
- Contribute to the success of our business by participating in business plan objectives and committing to individual team objectives
- Manage the Risk-Can portfolio to achieve profitability and growth through risk-selection, pricing and relationship development
- Determine goals and objectives for direct reports; assign responsibilities; provide guidance and feedback regarding performance, facilitate continuous learning, career development and succession planning
- Provide effective leadership by continuously keeping your team informed on changes / results and share accountability for the overall performance, productivity and engagement with team members
- Develop and nurture successful working relationships with our broker and insurance carrier partners through strong communication, visibility and participation in achieving results
- Recommend and develop products to aid in growth targets. Ad hoc project work as required.
- Improve workflows to aid in department efficiencies
The Successful candidate will have :

- Proven track record : 5+ years of management experience leading high performing teams.
- Sales driven mindset and self-starter : We have ambitious growth targets you are able to find opportunities to grow better and faster without a pre-determined road map to follow.
- Relationship builder : Cultivating relationships excites you.
- Technical underwriting ability : 5+ years commercial underwriting experience. Exposure to developing niche products or growing program business an asset.
- A team player and natural leader : You thrive in a face-paced collaborative team environment and are passionate about developing and empowering your team to achieve their full potential and perform at a high level.
- Comfortable with change : Building a leading MGA will require pivoting on strategies and initiatives. You are okay with priority shifts as we grow together.
- Ability to travel
- RIBO license an asset or willingness to obtain
- CIP / FCIP / RPLU an asset
