Senior Network and Videoconference Administrator

Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Network Operations, the Senior Network and Videoconference Administrator supports and maintains KRG’s satellite, subsea fiber and local distribution networks.
The Network Administrator is also responsible for the design, implementation of new network services, as well as providing documentation, procedures and training to Internet Services staff.
TASKS :
- Maintain and configure devices related to satellite networking. This includes satellite modems, SSPAs, Cisco routers, bandwidth shapers and protocol accelerators;
- Maintain, configure and install devices related to a wireless broadband Internet Service and wireless LAN. This includes Huwaei LTE modems and Redline AN80i and 3K technology;
- Monitor the network for outages, congestion or problems;
- Provide level 3 support to customer service representatives for network related issues;
- Ensure proper documentation of all systems related network activities and infrastructure;
- Assist with the management of the Internet service billing system;
- Provide technical training including materials or presentation to junior and intermediate technical staff;
- Coordinate network emergency response with local agents and intervene in person if necessary;
- Manage vendors with regards to purchases, RMAs, repairs, and shipping of equipment;
- Maintain an inventory of spare equipment and parts for emergency repairs;
- Coordinate resources within KRG or from outside contractors as it related to specific projects;
- Advise the Coordinator of Network Operations and the Assistant Director on infrastructure changes and future requirements;
- Perform any other related tasks as requested by the direct supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- College level diploma in network technology;
- 8 years of experience as network administrator specifically with an Internet Service Provider;
- Prior experience working with wireless networking an asset;
- Cisco certification an asset.
- In depth knowledge of TCP / IP networking and routing protocols (IP, TCP, OSPF, IGRP) ;
- In depth knowledge of Ethernet switching protocols (802.1p, 802.1q)
- Knowledge of fibre networks including FTTH and FTTB
- Working knowledge of H.323 and other video networking protocols;
- Functional knowledge of IP QoS (Diffserv, ToS, etc), traffic shaping its application in an ISP class network;
- Satellite, wireless or RF knowledge an asset;
- Knowledge of encryption technology (IPSEC, SSL) an asset;
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve unforeseen network problems;
- Self reliance a must for work in isolated communities;
- Ability to transfer his / her knowledge to others;
- Strong focus on customer service-oriented personality;
- Good verbal and written communication skills;
- Must be bilingual (Inuttitut-English, Inuttitut-French or English-French);
- Must be available to occasionally work overtime, outside office hours and be available on-call;
- Must be able to travel regularly and, for emergencies, with little notice.

Salary : minimum $60,205; maximum $103,305 yearly (class 10);
