Zehr Construction, the construction division of Zehr Group, is looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our growing team.
In your capacity as Project Manager, you will oversee the Project Managers and collaborate on all projects in planning, budgeting, allocating of resources, and ensuring timely completion.
You will also ensure that the projects are completed within the set budget and scope, delivering all expected end results.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Overseeing major construction and renovation projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and to established standards.
- Responsible for all aspects of leading the project from start to finish with the project teams, overseeing and administering the concept, design, and assistance during the tender phase, as well as construction and commissioning phases.
- Developing a risk management plan, monitoring, and reporting on risk, and developing relevant responses with multiple options to mitigate risk.
- Assisting when needed with scheduling of building inspections to meet Building Department requirements.
- Establishing preliminary and final budgets for projects.
- Ensuring budget control is in place and monitoring costs during all phases, resulting in project delivery on budget and on schedule.
- Coordinating the procurement process with service providers and client groups.
- Analyzing the impact of project deferrals, cost overruns, and potential delays, informing client groups and recommending measures to address project requirements.
- Managing project site safety and collaborating with all third-party and in-house resources.
- Completing any other reasonable tasks required to meet the requirements of this position in a professional manner.
- Maintaining familiarity with contract documents and enforcing compliance when needed.
- Conducting full reviews of drawing packages, specifications, and project details to understand the sequencing of installation and identify interferences.
- Maintaining formalized changes to contract documents, agreed upon by all stakeholders.
- Vetting information received from trades, consultants, and clients to ensure viability.
- Conducting weekly site visits to review progress, identify issues, and collaborate with project teams.
- Ensuring full comprehension of trade subcontracts and their obligations to maintain accountability to the highest standards.
- Attending meetings with clients, trades, and consultants.
- Scheduling update meetings on a bi-weekly basis with full reporting to the VP, Construction Operations.
- Maintaining effective relationships utilizing effective communication.
- Reviewing monthly progress billing to ensure SOV’s are provided and rejecting overbilling.
Education And Experience Required
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset.
- Proven working experience in project management.
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
- Experience with project management software tools, i.e., MS Project.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products and Teams.
- General understanding of Procore construction software would be beneficial.
- Driver’s license is a must.
Compensation will be based on experience, education, and performance. Expenses will be paid on a monthly basis for car mileage in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency regulations.
Other related work expenses are to be approved. The regular office hours are from Monday to Friday, based on a 44-hour work week.
The successful candidate will be entitled to participate in the Company’s group insurance plans and any other benefit programs in effect during employment.
