What your role will be
Director, Financial Analytics & Liability Management, Loyalty & Partnerships, Canadian Banking
Contributes to the overall success of the Loyalty & Partnerships, Canadian Banking in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.
Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
What you will be doing
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Manages the liability management process for multiple proprietary loyalty programs. Engages with third party partner within actuarial science domain to maintain and manage monthly liability process.
Work with Oliver Wyman (OW) and manage the OW relationship.
- Leverage loyalty data and modelling to derive business insights to forecast customer behaviours and inform program changes and enhancements Business insights
- Strong ongoing collaboration with Finance and Product Teams on monthly financial reporting of points liability collaborate with Finance
- Ownership of monthly loyalty attestation process with multiple stakeholders across Retail Product Regulatory Control, Compliance, Finance, Product and Marketing teams current process run by L&P
- Develop and maintain monthly reporting on loyalty program KPI trends such as cost per point, points issuance and redemption, redemption mix, and more.
KPI reporting on CPP, mix, ratio (earn to burn). Credit and debit reporting.
- Establish strong discipline and process for business casing for new rewards models and partnerships. Business casing to support new business development or loyalty models
- Key point of contact with Finance on all financial metrics for loyalty rewards program, including cost per point reporting, loyalty P&L, points and liability forecasting.
Collaborate with Finance
Oversee vendor financial reporting and reconciliation of points redemptions, points earn and redemption; establish dashboards and financial reports to understand past and projected financial and customer trends.
KPI reporting on CPP, mix, ratio (earn to burn)
- Key point of contact with Scotia Analytics and third-party loyalty platform provider on liability management models data requirements.
- Develop business insights to optimize program strategy and decisions leveraging financial analytics; work with external industry experts to increase levels of sophistication with liability and financial models
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
- Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML / ATF / sanctions and conduct risk

What you need to succeed
- Business Degree or MBA, strong background in finance, mathematics, actuarial science
- CFA / CPA considered an asset
- 5+ years in consulting, finance, and loyalty rewards
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of global loyalty financial analytics trends and business models
- Strong modelling and business casing skills
- Excellent written, presentation and communication skills, ability to communicate on a broad spectrum (from operational discussions to high-level, executive vision)
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking capabilities
- Results-oriented, self-starter, with highly effective strategic influencing and negotiating skills
- Strong leadership skills to motivate and lead team through times where deliverables are high pressure / high risk / tight timelines
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment with a proven ability to meet multiple deadlines and tasks
- Excellent project delivery skills, with proven accomplishments leading cross-functional projects
