JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a Data Governance Advisor who will report to the Manager MDM, and who’ll be playing an active role in establishing the data governance landscape and its program at BRP.
As part of your role, you will be responsible for deploying and enforcing policies and procedures that ensure data is used and maintained properly.
You’ll be working independently and creatively to collect and analyze data, assess technical requirements, designing and implementing solutions for critical issues related to data.
YOU’LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO :
- Provide strategic guidance to data producers and users in understanding how to leverage data to its full potential for the benefit of enterprise and customers, within data governance perspective.
- Determine, develop, operationalize, and regularly evolve the standards, processes, tools and best practices related to the data governance foundation.
- Grow data literacy and data maturity across the organization through effective communication strategies and training to build core data proficiencies in data-related and business roles.
- Support the business lines’ decision-making bodies in analyzing risks and potential gaps between the expectations of data frameworks and operational practices.
- Provide leadership and expertise to various stakeholders on projects to proactively address cross-functional business needs through the development of highly innovative approaches and strategic and complex data governance interventions.
YOU’LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES :
- Relevant post-secondary education in data, computing science, business, economics, operations research, engineering, statistics, data governance, or other technical disciplines.
- 5+ years’ experience in the field of data management, data governance, change management and implementation of complex technology systems.
- Strong knowledge on Data Governance and Data Quality concepts, as well as its best practices. Strong knowledge on Data Governance platform and its implementation, such as Colibra, Alation, AXON, Watson IGC, or others.
Good knowledge of data loss prevention, SOC, or cybersecurity operations with specific understanding of the tactics, techniques and procedures is required.
Good knowledge of data privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, Privacy Act Canada, Bill 64, etc and its latest information is required.
Strong knowledge of linking technical elements (Data Models) to business elements (Business process mapping) is required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to influence and orient business and technical audiences toward a common goal that is satisfying all stakeholders.
The knowledge of English is required because you will be representing BRP in negotiations with stakeholders in the US and abroad.
