About the Role

The Global Casualty and Fin Pro actuarial team within Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is looking to hire an individual to take on the Actuarial lead for North America Liability and Professional Liability portfolios.

This role offers a blend of technical leadership and business acumen. The individual in this position will be responsible for developing a deep understanding of (sub)portfolio performance, loss drivers, and trends for each product, and use this insight to work closely with various product owners to develop and implement portfolio strategy.

Specific responsibilities for this position include :

  • Product Responsibility : for Liability, E&O, D&O and Transactional Liability pricing support, with a personal focus on the D&O product
  • Analytical driven decision making : responsible for portfolio profitability reflecting the latest market dynamics, rate and loss experience.

You will develop initiatives to understand the drivers of profitability using actuarial segmentation analyses and work with the business stakeholders to take advantage of opportunities and mitigate risks.

  • Pricing tool development : Take ownership of the Pricing framework and ensure both effectiveness and oversight. Lead the development of Swiss Re's market leading pricing models, ensure these models are calibrated accurately to reflect the latest experience and trends, and work with technology to implement these tools to support underwriting decision making.
  • Strategy Development : Collaborate with underwriting leadership to support strategy development and prioritise execution strategies.

Partner with the portfolio leader to monitor and evaluate existing and new opportunities efficiently to support both growth and remediation activity.

Team : Leadership, development, and coaching of four team members

About the Team

We are the team providing actuarial and portfolio management support to Corporate Solutions liability businesses around the world.

We work closely with our business partners to offer portfolio steering support based on data-driven decisions. Team members are encouraged to take ownership of their portfolios, becoming product experts, and advocates for their products to senior management.

About You

  • Minimum 10 years of actuarial experience, including significant time spent pricing general and / or professional liability products
  • ACAS / FCAS designation required
  • D&O pricing experience preferred
  • Critical skills : Self-motivation and ability to work independently Ability to drive team performance Strong organizational skills and internal drive to push projects forward Curiosity to understand "what" the data is saying and "why" Interest in developing data-based strategic actions with portfolio owners Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical colleagues Creativity to consider actuarial problems in new ways

Preferred locations are Kansas City, MO or Windsor, CT. Other arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.
