Job description
The role of the Quality Improvement Intern will report to the Director of Quality and Patient Safety. The Quality Improvement Intern will support the Quality and Patient Safety (QPS) department and collaborate with other stakeholders on various projects related to quality improvement and patient safety.
Your contributions will encompass quality improvement projects, and various administrative responsibilities. You will collaborate with key stakeholders to implement solutions for identified improvement opportunities, map out new processes, develop new pathways;
analyze, interpret and disseminate data as it is related to clinical practice, patient safety and quality. You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have an astute ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects simultaneously.
Accountabilities :
- Support key corporate quality improvement, patient safety and professional practice initiatives
- Support continuous improvement focused on such areas as clinical appropriateness of care, efficiency, effectiveness, work-flow, access to care, continuity of care, safety and patient experience
- Apply a systems-focused approach to achieve optimal results in quality, safety, reliability, efficiency and productivity
- Develop and identify performance and outcome indicators
- Engage in collection, interpretation, analysis and presentation of performance data
- Partner with Risk Management on key patient safety initiatives, where appropriate
- Develop presentations, reports and training and educational material

Job qualifications
- Enrollment in a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program
- Registered Nurse in good standing with minimum of 2 years of healthcare experience
- Data management and statistical experience desirable
- Proven ability to remain up to date with health care quality assurance trends, practices and legislation
- Experience in collecting, analyzing and interpreting data for the purposes of quality improvement
- Previous experience in hospital projects, preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and designing software (e.g., Canva)
- Experience with healthcare information systems and electronic health records

- Self-directed and able at managing projects and priorities
- Exceptional computer skills
