  • A flexible and supportive work environment designed for long‑term career growth.

Key Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

As a Process Engineering Discipline Lead - SAGD / Heavy Oil CPF, you will play a key role in delivering safe, efficient, and reliable CPF designs with a focus on:

  • Minimizing capital costs through simplified process schemes and reduced equipment count.
  • Ensuring operability and reliability.
  • Leveraging standardization and repeatable designs.
  • Aligning with project drivers to avoid overdesign and scope growth.

In this role, you will:

Technical Leadership

  • Lead the engineering of gas processing projects across all phases – Feasibility, Conceptual Design, DBM, FEED, and Detailed Engineering.
  • Develop and validate process models and simulations for SAGD / Heavy Oil CPFs and other facilities.
  • Oversee and stamp major process engineering deliverables including H&MBs, PFDs, P&IDs, shutdown keys, control narratives, equipment sizing and engineering reports.
  • Ensure quality compliance with established processes and procedures.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Manage process engineering deliverable quality, schedules and budgets.
  • Mentor intermediate, EITs and global workshare process engineers.
  • Collaborate closely with PMPE, multidiscipline engineering teams, vendors, and clients to solve complex technical challenges.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Lead P&ID and Process Hazard Assessments (PHA) reviews to ensure safe, operable, and regulatory-compliant designs.
  • Ensure engineering outputs meet API, ASME, ISO, and other applicable regulatory standards.

Project Execution

  • Support commissioning, start-up, and operational optimization activities.
  • Deliver SAGD / Heavy Oil CPF facilities that are:
    • Simple and cost-effective.
    • Highly operable and reliable.
    • Aligned with constructability and execution.
  • Driver results that are well-defined, low-risk solutions that maximize long-term value for our clients.

Technical Excellence
Help to support:

  • Greenfield CPF projects utilizing modular construction.
  • Brownfield expansions and tie-ins in operating facilities.
  • Programmatic SAGD developments using standardized, repeatable designs.
  • Bring a strong understanding of SAGD specific challenges, including:
    • Emulsion handling, fouling, and water chemistry.
    • Heat integration and energy efficiency.
    • Experience with water treatment, steam, dewatering and deoiling systems.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

About You

You are an experienced engineer who thrives in a technical leadership role and enjoys working on multidisciplinary projects. You bring:

  • A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with APEGA.
  • A degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 18+ years of industry experience with SAGD / Heavy Oil CPFs.
  • A proven ability to lead a Process Engineering team and deliver complex, high‑value projects.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines and with clients.
  • Advanced proficiency with process engineering software (HYSYS, UniSim, ProMax, etc.).
  • Customer-focused with a solutions-oriented attitude.

Preferred

  • Previous work in an EPCM project environment.
  • Operating experience within a SAGD / Heavy Oil CPF.

Ready to Apply?

If you are passionate about technical excellence, enjoy leading teams, and are looking for a place where you can grow your career while shaping innovative energy projects, we would love to hear from you.
