Job description

Marketing Analyst

Position Overview

Our client, a growing Canadian manufacturer of specialized industrial products, is seeking a Marketing Analyst to join its product and marketing team in Abbotsford, BC.

This is a product-focused analytical role rather than a traditional advertising, communications, or digital marketing position. The Marketing Analyst will support the Product Manager throughout product planning, development, launch, and lifecycle management.

The successful candidate will research markets and competitors, organize and analyze customer feedback, develop product documentation, support product-development activities, coordinate beta testing, and help translate technical, customer, and market information into clear recommendations. The role works closely with Product Management, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Sales, and Marketing.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Conduct market, competitor, technology, and industry research
  • Identify emerging market trends and potential product opportunities
  • Monitor competitor products, pricing, specifications, patents, and product launches
  • Develop and maintain Product Requirements Documents and Customer Requirements Specifications
  • Prepare business cases, product summaries, presentations, and stage-gate documentation
  • Organize and analyze Voice of Customer and distributor feedback
  • Identify recurring customer needs and product-improvement opportunities
  • Support product-development and stage-gate activities
  • Assist with beta-testing programs, surveys, feedback collection, and reporting
  • Monitor product-performance metrics and support product lifecycle planning

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Technical Communications, Marketing, Business Analysis, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in product analysis, business analysis, product development, technical documentation, product support, engineering administration, market research, or a related field
  • Strong research, analytical, and technical writing skills
  • Ability to organize and communicate complex information clearly
  • Experience conducting market and competitive analysis
  • Strong organizational and project-coordination skills
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail and document-control practices
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities

Nice to Have

Experience with any of the following would be considered an asset:

  • Manufacturing, industrial, or engineered products
  • Product development or new product introduction
  • Product requirements documentation
  • Stage-gate processes
  • Voice of Customer programs
  • Competitive intelligence
  • Beta testing or product validation
  • Technical or engineering-oriented products
  • Product lifecycle management

This opportunity will suit someone who enjoys working at the intersection of products, customers, markets, and technical teams.

You do not need to be an engineer, but you should be comfortable learning how technical products work, asking thoughtful questions, working closely with engineering and product teams, and translating complex information into clear documentation and useful business insights.

Candidates with backgrounds such as Product Analyst, Product Management Analyst, Product Development Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, Product Specialist, Associate Product Manager, or Market/Competitive Intelligence Analyst may be particularly relevant.
