Casual Early Learning Assistant
Overview
Location : Elementary schools within the Board, as needed
Nature of Position : Casual, on call, within extended day programs
Summary : Working under the direction of the Early Childhood Educator, the Early Learning Assistant (Extended Day Program) assists in the provision of childcare to students before and after school (including professional activity day and school break periods);
enhancing child-based play; encouraging and guiding, and modeling appropriate behaviour techniques. Performs other duties to support the overall objectives and goals of the program.
A working knowledge of English is required. A working knowledge of French is required for some positions. Sign language would be considered an asset.
Role and Responsibilities
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a High School diploma, and;
- Minimum one (1) year post-secondary experience providing childcare to school age children in a group setting;
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
- Sign language would be considered an asset.
- Current First Aid certification / CPR Level C is required.
- Police Record Check for the Vulnerable sector, valid within the last 6 months is required upon hire.
- Immunization Record is required
Pay Expectations
Salary : $17.20 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay
