Job Description
The successful incumbent will provide patient / family-centered care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
- You will be responsible for collaborating and assisting the emergency team with length of stay goals for the department;
- assisting in all duties related to the collection of blood specimens and ECG's in the ED; all duties associated with specimen collection including clerical, packaging and transportation arrangements;
monitoring inventory and ensuring adequate stock for day to day operation; maintaining the PPID equipment.
Qualifications
Halton Healthcare Services is seeking individuals who are competent in their chosen profession; patient / customer focused;
team players; effective communicators; caring and respectful and are fiscally responsible.
- Minimum of one year relevant experience as a healthcare provider in an Emergency department.
- Certification as a Laboratory Assistant.
- Knowledge of laboratory computer systems.
- Medical Terminology required.
- Demonstrated experience with specimen processing
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families and the healthcare team.
- Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Physically able to do the job.
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record.
Additional Information
Hours : Monday - Sunday, various rotating 12 hour shifts (Hours subject to change based on operational requirements)
Salary : $30.494 to $35.15 per hour
