Coop Lab Technician

Description

The successful candidate will report to the Lab Supervisor and will conduct testing on various Research projects for the Fall 2024 Co-Op term .

The Laboratory Technician will compile reports to determine product compliance to company standards and quality.

• Performing quality assurance testing on asphalt roofing shingle products and raw materials for compliance with company standards.
• Taking direction from Lab Supervisor or Corporate Quality Engineer to conduct research projects.
• Complying laboratory reports based on interpreting research data for evaluation by the Lab Supervisor.
• Following and adhering to Internal Laboratory SOPs, ASTMs and UL test methods.
• Maintaining good record keeping practices and strict adherence to quality and safety programs.
• Receiving samples from various internal and external customers and assigning sample numbers for identification.
• Maintaining accuracy and calibration of laboratory testing equipment.
• Other projects and assignments related to research and quality assurance may be assigned.
• Work with production plants within IKO to provide support and supplemental research data.

Our ideal candidate would be :

• Preference towards senior students.
• Experience in a laboratory environment desired
• Fluent working knowledge of Microsoft Office required
• Experience with advanced Excel functions preferred
• Ability to manage and prioritize several projects at a time
• Strong commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment
• Effective team player with a positive, adaptable attitude
• Possess solid problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Possess effective oral and written communication skills
• Possess the ability to work independently
• Must be self-motivated, results and action oriented
• Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds on a routine basis

Wage

$22 / hour - $24 / hour

Hours / Days / Schedule

Hours of work will be primarily Monday through Friday 30 - 40 hours, day shift .
