Position Summary :

The Quality Engineer will work closely with other functional groups including Supply Chain, Production, Sustaining Engineering, R&D, Repair center and NPI to develop and maintain quality processes for new product developments and products in a Sustaining phase.

They will support Material Review Board discussions with stakeholders and drive RCA, NCR and corrective actions relating to Production and / or Vendor quality issues.

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for implementing quality control measures both internally and with vendors during NPI and audit the effectiveness of those measures.

They will also be required to ensure the ongoing compliance with our quality control processes of products in a Sustaining phase.

Duties include (but are not limited to) :

  • Develop and implement quality standards
  • Investigate and contain customer, production or vendor non-conformances, drive investigations into the root cause of these non-conformances and support the implementation of corrective actions
  • Perform quality inspections on components or assemblies. This may take the form of a visual and / or dimensional inspection or even a functional test of a product or component
  • Review quality processes to identify opportunities for improvement and document changes in processes, procedures, and work instructions as necessary
  • Familiarize yourself with the various test and measurement equipment used to verify the quality of Vecima products
  • Utilizing engineering drawings, datasheets, customer requirements and other sources of information identify the quality expectations for Vecima products, and the components used on those products
  • Record and report information relating to Vecima’s supplier quality performance to stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain quality related metrics and report those metrics to stakeholders (e.g. number of outstanding NCRs, closure rate of NCRs etc)
  • Support discussions related to quality issues and the impacts of those issues (e.g. MRB meetings, material disposition etc)
  • Develop quality deliverables for products in development and work with appropriate stakeholders and vendors to implement them (FAI and IQC plans, PPAP etc)
  • Complete both remote and on-site audits of key vendors. On-site audits will entail international travel

Position requirements :

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality engineering
  • Knowledge of Core Tools : APQP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC and Continuous improvement
  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems, ISO9001-2015
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to drive root cause analysis
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement
  • Certification in Quality Management Systems (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer) is a plus
  • Experience with electronics manufacturing processes and products is preferred
  • Preference will be given to applicants able to work locally at Vecima’s primary manufacturing facility in Saskatoon, SK
