The Opportunity

The need for Jocelyn House Hospice is outpacing its size. The Boards of Directors of Jocelyn House Hospice and Jocelyn Hutton Foundation are seeking a strong individual interested in growing Jocelyn House Hospice, and its special brand of care, for people living out their final days.

The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for developing options for growth that include supporting fundraising strategies and implementing plans as directed by the Boards.

With strategic direction and policy support from the Boards of Jocelyn House Hospice and Jocelyn Hutton Foundation, the ED is responsible for directing and executing all activities of Jocelyn House Hospice and Jocelyn Hutton Foundation directly or through delegated authority.

The ED is responsible for all management decisions related to clinical and administrative operations.

While supporting the mission and goals of the organizations and implementing policies established by the Boards, the ED is accountable to the Boards for stewardship of the mission and goals of Jocelyn House Hospice and Jocelyn Hutton Foundation.

The ED provides leadership, direction and guidance for all programs and services in the following key areas :

  • Operational Planning & Management
  • Financial Planning & Management
  • Fundraising & Revenue Development
  • Human Resources Planning & Management
  • Program Planning, Management & Evaluation
  • Community Liaison & Public Relations

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g. administration, health care or social services) is required
  • Professional designation, licensure and / or CFRE would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge, expertise and experience in hospice and palliative care is an asset
  • Experience with fundraising and working with funding bodies; working with government and in a not-for-profit milieu
  • Previous experience in developing and growing organizations; building formal alliances and partnerships
  • Proven track record of progressive leadership and management experience
