KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work in collaboration with the investment team to oversee the growth and progress of a recently acquired community solar and storage development company and its transition into an independent power producer.
- Analyze the development pipeline and markets targeted.
- Analyze the costs estimates for the development of these opportunities.
- Follow the annual budget of the company and provide variances analysis.
- Work in collaboration with the VP of construction and Engineering to oversee the construction costs, schedules and progress.
- Axium currently owns 3 GW of wind assets (6.5 GW on a 100% ownership basis). Many sites in the US and in Canada present opportunities for repowering.
The Director of Asset Management would lead, from an Axium perspective, these opportunities in collaboration with the investment teams and our operating partners.
The responsibilities include the following :
- Analyse repowering opportunities within Axium existing portfolio of assets.
- Develop a plan to execute the repowering and work with our operating partners to maximize the long-term value of the assets.
- Oversee renewal, extension and related waivers and consents of key agreements such as power purchase agreements (or other types of revenue contracts), O&M agreements, insurance coverages, collective agreements, etc.
- Validate the execution and quality of construction deliverables with the independent engineer and lenders' advisor.
- Prepare risk assessments and monitor ESG metrics for assets.
- Develop and maintain business relationships, and be the main point of contact, with operating partners, customers, service providers, regulatory agencies and other external stakeholders such as lenders’ advisors, credit agencies, landowners, insurance brokers, union representatives and legal advisors.
- Oversee and manage our operating partners, conduct site visits and lead monthly review meetings.
- Analyze the benefits and risks of key investments, review documentation and work collaboratively with external consultants as required.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance or equivalent. A masters degree in relevant discipline willbe an asset.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in business operations environment. Experience in renewable energy development, repowering (including wholesale power market operations) and financial planning & analysis will be considered a significant asset.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Strong business acumen and ability to review analyze and comment on financial and business results is essential.
- Strong understanding of wholesale power markets, renewable energy operations, financial modeling and budgeting.
- Knowledge of the capital structure of renewable projects including debt and tax equity will be considered a significant asset.
- Team player who can work in a matrix environment.
- Professionalism, maturity and proactivity.
- Excellent communicator with strong abilities to develop and maintain business relationships.
- Strong IT skills and in-depth knowledge of the Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook).
