Robert Half is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join a growing organization located in the Ottawa region. This is full-time/permanent role on site.

Responsibilities:

-Supporting the Controller in the direction, supervision and development of the Accounting team

-Managing a broad spectrum of accounting activities, including the monthly and year end closing process to support the issuance of timely and complete financial statements (monthly, quarterly, and annual)

-Assisting with external auditors as needed, and completion of tax filings

-Assisting with period reporting requirements to financial institutions, solicitors and other 3rd parties

-Preparation of year end working paper files

-Supporting continuous improvement initiatives of the Accounting team, as well as supporting financial analyses and other ad-hoc projects as needed

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

-Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance is required

-Thorough understanding of financial reporting, and year end filing

-Strong analytical and investigative skills considered important

-Candidate should be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently as required

-Strong computer skills, including Excel

-Experience managing a small team

-Experience with Yardi, or another integrated ERP solution, would be an asset

-Self-motivated and independent, detailed oriented, strong work ethic, and high integrity and ethical standards

-Willingness to work with others, a strong team player and the ability grow into a leadership role

-Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to draft correspondence for Owners and other senior members of the organization
