Robert Half is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join a growing organization located in the Ottawa region. This is full-time / permanent role on site.

Responsibilities :

• Supporting the Controller in the direction, supervision and development of the Accounting team
• Managing a broad spectrum of accounting activities, including the monthly and year end closing process to support the issuance of timely and complete financial statements (monthly, quarterly, and annual)
• Assisting with external auditors as needed, and completion of tax filings
• Assisting with period reporting requirements to financial institutions, solicitors and other 3rd parties
• Preparation of year end working paper files
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives of the Accounting team, as well as supporting financial analyses and other ad-hoc projects as needed

Job Requirements : Qualifications :

Qualifications :

• Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance is required
• Thorough understanding of financial reporting, and year end filing
• Strong analytical and investigative skills considered important
• Candidate should be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently as required
• Strong computer skills, including Excel
• Experience managing a small team
• Experience with Yardi, or another integrated ERP solution, would be an asset
• Self-motivated and independent, detailed oriented, strong work ethic, and high integrity and ethical standards
• Willingness to work with others, a strong team player and the ability grow into a leadership role
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to draft correspondence for Owners and other senior members of the organization
