Robert Half is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join a growing organization located in the Ottawa region. This is full-time / permanent role on site.

Responsibilities :

Supporting the Controller in the direction, supervision and development of the Accounting team

Managing a broad spectrum of accounting activities, including the monthly and year end closing process to support the issuance of timely and complete financial statements (monthly, quarterly, and annual)

Assisting with external auditors as needed, and completion of tax filings

Assisting with period reporting requirements to financial institutions, solicitors and other 3rd parties

Preparation of year end working paper files

Supporting continuous improvement initiatives of the Accounting team, as well as supporting financial analyses and other ad-hoc projects as needed

Job Requirements : Qualifications :

Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance is required

Thorough understanding of financial reporting, and year end filing

Strong analytical and investigative skills considered important

Candidate should be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently as required

Strong computer skills, including Excel

Experience managing a small team

Experience with Yardi, or another integrated ERP solution, would be an asset

Self-motivated and independent, detailed oriented, strong work ethic, and high integrity and ethical standards

Willingness to work with others, a strong team player and the ability grow into a leadership role

Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to draft correspondence for Owners and other senior members of the organization
