RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre.
Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University.
The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).
Position summary
Under the supervision of the Supervisor, Clinical Research Administration, for the Centre for Innovative Medicine (CIM), the incumbent is responsible to review, analyze and negotiate study budgets with industry partners.
General Duties
- Analyze research protocols to identify all required procedures and develop a detailed budget,
- Generates and participates in a cost analysis evaluation with appropriate stakeholders,
- Negotiates the budget and payment terms with Sponsors, within predetermined time frame,
- Finalizes the negotiated agreement with the Sponsors,
- Collaborates with various RI department as required (Study teams, Grant office etc.),
- Advice the contract office, as required, to ensure that legal clauses are included in the final contract agreement with sponsors,
- Maintains a list of all relevant costs, and keeps up-to-date pricing,
- Performs all other related tasks, as assigned by the supervisor.

Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Management, Accounting or Business Administration or in another appropriate discipline with 2 years of experience, - an asset, if not need to have a DEC with 3 years of experience,
- Two to three (2-3) years of related experience in budget negotiations with similar responsibilities,
- Excellent French and English, spoken and written,
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point),
- Facility to learn new computer software applications,
- High level of accuracy and analytical skills,
- Solid verbal and written communication skills,
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills,
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities,
- Ability to demonstrate diplomacy, discretion and good judgment,
- Ability to take initiative and meet tight deadlines.
