Due to growth, they are adding a new Substation Technician to their team.

What you’ll be doing in the role :
- High-voltage substation maintenance, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation activities, ensuring compliance with specifications, codes and customer requirements
- Inspect and commission post-construction to observe functional operation and ensure compliance to design and equipment specifications and operational and safety standards
- Plan, research and implement methodologies and procedures to apply principles of electrical engineering design and operational theory around maintenance, construction, commissioning and troubleshooting projects
- Prepare, review, study and edit technical drawings and specifications of power systems to ensure application, installation and operations conform to required standards and customer requirements
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications;
establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
- Assess process, design, implementation and workflow variables in order to inform Project Managers and clients with respect to scheduling and cost controls
- Prepare project reports by collecting, summarizing, analyzing and interpreting information; drawing correct conclusions and making appropriate recommendations
- Provide engineering information by answering technical questions and requests
What you bring to the role :
- Post-secondary school education such as Electrical Engineering Technology
- A Journeyperson is an asset
- A minimum 3 years’ experience in an electrical construction / utility field experience
- Proven working knowledge / experience with IEEE and NETA testing standards
- In-depth familiarity with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC)
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and extreme attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills including MS Office, AutoCAD
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Strong oral and written English communication skills and a demonstrated customer service aptitude
- Valid driver’s license and clear driving abstract is required
