The salary range for this position is $220,000- $325,000 The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity.

What the day will look like

  • Acts as an Account Director on a portfolio of clients
  • Responsible for driving and delivering the overall achievement of the Regional business results
  • Drives and is accountable for the delivery of Distinctive Client Value, attraction and retention of top talent, overall talent management and operational excellence within the Central Region
  • Accountable for overall regional results delivering revenue growth and margin in accordance with budget
  • Consistently modeling a one-firm mindset / approach
  • Direct reporting into the Western Canada Executive Vice President with accountability to Solution Line leadership for Wealth, Health as well as Commercial Risk
  • Collaborates with Specialty Practice Leaders, Office Solution Line leadership, Sales, Growth, Operations, Finance, HR & Legal.
  • Directs the collaborative activity of the teams to plan and achieve annual and long-term business objectives and initiatives within the Region in line with National best practices, policies and business plans
  • Leads sales planning, marketing, and execution of sales products, services and programs in support of the client value proposition resulting in new and retained account relationships, enhanced business results and overall Regional revenue growth
  • Responsible for all business activities of the office / region, to enable growth across Solution Lines for the office to achieve region objectives
  • Reviews Regional performance results and works with the Aon Leaders to identify, spearhead and leverage new market and client service opportunities
  • Determine causes of underperformance and identify vital corrective action steps where objectives are not being met
  • Implements statutory and regulatory compliance where applicable
  • Oversees people related activities for the region including recruitment, training, engagement, performance, succession planning, and as appropriate employee relations
  • Makes and communicates decisions related to regional operations
  • Supports harmonization efforts during integration
  • Promotes Aon’s visibility and networking within the community by encouraging staff participation in local organizations and representing Aon in professional and business associations
  • Driving coordination and connectivity / relationship between specialty and region teams with our clients
  • Driving coordination and opportunity generation between branches within Central Region
  • Working with DAU team to lead any significant ($100k+) Account In Jeopardy discussions in British Columbia (in coordination with the relevant office leader and Account Executives)
  • Coordinate, create and develop, in conjunction with Regional Exec all business plans and growth strategies identifying target regions and industries for growth
  • Responsible for role-modeling and fostering a positive and inclusive colleague experience within the region
  • Ad-hoc help on various leadership tasks as necessary

Business Leadership Skills

  • Shown professional services business leader, with subject matter expertise in risk and insurance, retirement, or health and benefits.
  • Deep understanding of local context, trends and macroeconomic factors.
  • Successful track record leading large diverse teams to deliver client service excellence.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve growth targets across multiple products or specialties.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in developing new client relationships.
  • Strategic business planning and execution expertise.
  • Proven ability to innovate and adapt to deliver and improve the services provided to clients.
  • 10+ years of progressive professional leadership success.
  • Clear success driving sustained profitable growth.

People Leadership Skills

  • Experience leading large teams of both direct reporting and matrix reporting staff through change to deliver client service excellence.
  • Experienced in leading multi solution / segment teams in an office. Champions an environment in which all employees are valued and heard.
  • Motivates and inspires others, creating an environment for continuous learning and connection.
  • Expertise and success at identifying, recruiting, developing and retaining top professional talent.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Progressive leadership experience in Risk or Human Capital with a minimum of 5+ years’ shown success in a regional / specialty / branch leadership role
  • Demonstrated leadership presence in the risk community and within the market
  • Post-Secondary degree in a business related program and / or equivalent experience preferred
  • Professional designations such as CIP, FCIP and CRM is preferable, or working towards similar coupled with BC Insurance license
