Senior Manager, GO Expansion

Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system.

We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier.

The objective of building an enhanced commuter rail network to meet the corporate mandate and business objectives while adhering to Metrolinx’s highest standards for safety, efficiency, and legal / regulatory / policy compliance, while delivering excellent customer experience.

The Senior Manager will be accountable for the strategic planning and delivery of new stations along the Kitchener corridor focused on the future Woodbine Station.

Woodbine Station is a new station planned in the heart of a future Transit Oriented Community along the Kitchener Corridor.

It is expected to support a daily passenger flow in the thousands, which is driven by the extensive train service that would support this station.

What will I be doing?

Leads a Project Management team to deliver collaboratively on activities for Woodbine Station by supporting the facilitating the development of plans, schedules and budget documents to ensure optimal coordination of projects throughout the network;

reviews consultant proposals and develops recommendations for proposed projects consistent with strategic plan and business objectives.

• Plans, sets objectives and controls activities during the development phase of the project in conjunction with the design integration and means and methods construction teams
• Manage all aspects related to internal and external stakeholders as the project moves through its life cycle. Ensuring review timelines, comments and integration of these comments are met and agreed.
• This leader will be required to support the development / acquisition of any agreements and property requirements associated with the program.
• This role will drive the integration of all disciplines supporting the design and execution of the work.
• Manages critical paths / milestones, by monitoring mechanisms for projects (., budget, schedule, scope, quality); regularly reports to Director on project status.
• Lead the development of the Target Price related to assigned infrastructure scope.
• Promotes a safe and healthy work environment; ensures project teams, contractors and trades comply with health, safety and environmental standards that meet or exceed legislated requirements.
• Heavily involved in construction planning to ensure operations of live rail corridor is maintained and identification of key risks and opportunities to deliver project.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

• Completion of a degree in Applied Science, Engineering, or a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
• Demonstrated progressive experience providing comprehensive engineering and project management services associated with the planning, design, and construction of transit facilities, station infrastructure, and related works.

Previous experience includes leading a team of technical professionals

Project management principles and practices, including budget and schedule controls, to lead and direct cross functional teams and consultants engaged in simultaneous projects (.

development, project progress, related staff and project resources) and monitor project activities for adherence to timelines, budgets, and project performance objectives

Theories, principles and practices of civil and architectural design and construction; skill and proficiency in broad phases of engineering application
