The Real Estate Division is seeking a dedicated and skilled Legal Associate on a temporary basis to join our team of Legal Associates.
This is a one-year term opportunity with an expected end date of October 2025; however, there is a potential for this position to evolve into a full-time, ongoing role based on performance and business needs.

The Legal Associate, Licensing Education position (the Position ), which reports to the Executive Director of the Division, under the general direction of the Division’s Directors, is responsible for establishing comprehensive plans (including curriculum plans), policies, and strategies to support the Division’s overall strategic plan of strengthening relationships with current clients and expanding across other provinces and / or nationwide.
In particular, the Position is responsible for the extensive development and delivery of the Division’s education programs, which include pre-licensing and mandatory post-licensing real education programs across multiple provinces / territories, and voluntary continuing real estate education programs nationwide.
May require some travel within and outside Canada.
Organizational Status
Reports to the Executive Director of the Division and works with internal and external subject matter experts, Allard School of Law graduate student academic assistants, and legal counsel.
Work Performed
Legal Content and Examination Development : Responsible for maintaining the legal academic integrity of the Division’s course materials and examinations.
Responsibilities include leading ongoing evaluation to identify new and existing curricular requirements; thoroughly researching and writing highly technical legal materials across a broad variety of topics such as land law, contract law, agency law, tax law, and mortgage law.
- Project Management : Responsible for the development of comprehensive plans, policies, and innovative delivery strategies for courses and examinations to support the Division’s overall strategic plan.
- Legal Support : Responsible for all legal aspects involved in developing policies, systems and organizational practices related to the Division’s education and examination operations.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Education with a specialization in curriculum development or an academic specialization relevant to the educational programming area.
Minimum of eight years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- Law degree LL.B. / J.D. and private practice experience is required, along with eligibility for membership in the Law Society of British Columbia.
- An in-depth knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework of the real estate industry in Canada and abroad is required.
- Exceptionally strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to simultaneously manage a diverse range of complex projects and activities.
- Ability to travel within and outside Canada.
