Job descriptionMaster’s degree in a Behavioural Science or related recognized program. At least three (3) years of recent experience providing behavioural consultation services to children with behavioural, social, and emotional disorders, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Valid BC Driver’s Licence. Local travel may require personal vehicle. Comprehensive knowledge of Functional Behaviour Assessments and Support Plans. Knowledge and competency in developing safety plans for children and youth. Broad knowledge of mental illness diagnosis and treatment. Broad knowledge of psychopharmacology indications and side‑effects. Broad knowledge of psychotherapeutic and counseling skills. Broad knowledge of other facilities and community resources. Demonstrated ability to work with children with serious behavioural, social, and emotional issues. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with children and families, educational personnel, service providers, and healthcare staff. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position. Basic computer literacy to operate client‑care information systems, word processing, spreadsheets, Internet and e‑mail software. Criminal Records Review Check required. Job Summary
Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Behavioural Management Consultant to join the multidisciplinary community mental health team in Richmond, BC. The role will provide diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, family sessions, and collaborative support to children experiencing severe behavioural, social, and emotional challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide multidisciplinary community mental health services, following best practice for children with severe behavioural, social, and emotional problems.
- Conduct diagnostic behavioural assessments, form diagnostic impressions, and develop and implement individualized treatment plans with team collaboration.
- Deliver outreach treatment services, including functional assessments, family sessions, parent groups, and limited individual child counselling.
- Maintain respectful client and family relationships, initiate and participate in case meetings, and provide consultative services with school personnel and community resources.
- Engage in team meetings, continuing education, conferences, corporate initiatives, and quality improvement activities.
