Printing Operator

Within the context of a client centred model of care, the Printing Operator is responsible for completing customer requirements and requests for colour and black and white reprographic printing services by utilizing current printing equipment and computer software applications.

Performs a variety of layout, and duplicating services including preparing formats, setting up, operating and maintaining image settings.

Works as a member of the Printing team to ensure quality standards are met to ensure final products either meet or exceed customer expectations.

What you’ll do

  • Determines output requirements for each request and sets up machines, prints and checks proofs, scans and manipulates documents as required, runs job, ensures client specifications are met, and delivers final output.
  • Utilizes current digital, and large colour and black and white reprographic equipment and networked computer applications to produce various printing jobs as requested by clients.
  • Sets up and operates offset press equipment, performs adjustments as required, cleans and lubricates machine parts.
  • Performs a variety of bindery duties such as drilling, collating and stapling materials.
  • Performs maintenance and repair of high-frequency service call areas on specified equipment to maximize customer uptime.
  • Cleans reprographic equipment according to vendor specifications and changes supplies.
  • Records meter reads, process production forms and maintains records.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

What you bring

Qualifications

  • Grade 10 plus three years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

  • As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have : Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (The Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).
