Join our team! Job Title : Project Controls ManagerReporting directly to Skeena’s Director of Construction and Engineering, the Project Controls Manager is the primary position responsible for managing all aspects of the Project Control’s functions across the business.
This includes; Cost Control, Planning / Scheduling, Key Quantity tracking & Estimating. The Project Controls Manager will oversee the scheduling, reporting, estimating and budgeting for the Eskay Creek Revitalization project to ensure a cost effective and efficient delivery.
They will provide estimates, cost control, and planning expertise while providing guidance, managing, and coordinating project staff.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to) : The Project Controls Manager will oversee Cost Control for the Eskay Creek Revitalization project and ensure all Planning / Scheduling targets are delivered.
Strong knowledge in Prism tool is must and should be able to maintain and improve the reporting system. The project control tool used for the project is in Prism.
Lead and Identify opportunities for process improvements within project controls functions and implement best practices to enhance project performance.
Provide Cost Control expertise to direct project towards Earned Value Reporting and reconciliation of Budget to Actuals and Forecast to Completion.
Lead and provide guidance to Project Planners and Controllers to achieve project performance targets in schedule planning, manage project milestones, financial performance and project execution.
Drive a collaborated culture working with various departments, project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination of project controls activities to ensure all costs, scheduling and objectives are aligned.
Prepare and deliver regular project reports, including progress updates, cost forecasts, schedule status, and risk assessments to the project team and stakeholders Develop and implement new concepts in work simplification and cost reduction including life cycle costing, value analysis, vendor analysis and information necessary to recommend regional solutionsBuild on Skeena’s existing Project Controls tools and develop and optimize them to ensure maximum efficiency in Key Quantity Tracking, Estimating and Document Control.
Provide baseline schedule development and management, performance status and reporting, baseline change control, risk management, earned value management guidance and tools.
Forecast project costing and provide financial reports and updates to Senior Management teams, notifying the team of concerning trends that are critical to the project's financial performance.
Develop and maintain key external relationships with consultants, contractors, and external stakeholders as well as provide oversight on contractor / vendor invoices.
Support program integration, governance, formats, plan optimization, and project controls best practices with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
Support and advise on the definition of project procedures and the standards required for project delivery.Responsible for ensuring that project costs controls are always applied and adhered to.
Responsible for managing the project budget and accruals and maintaining the project cost data in the cost management system.
Should assist in Identifying and assessing project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and maintain a risk register. Monitor risk exposure and ensure proactive risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
Manage project change processes, including the evaluation of change requests, impact assessments, and updating of project schedules and budgets as requiredThe Ideal CandidateMinimum of 15 years of related work experience is required, including at least 5 years in a managerial or lead role on large-scale construction projects, preferably in the mining or resource sector.
Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Engineering, Business Management, Finance or a professional certification (e.g., PMP, CCP) is an asset.
Management of large industrial projects throughout the EPCM and / or EPC environment is a key asset.Demonstrated proficiency in project management, project controls techniques and principles is required.
Proven ability to lead and manage a project controls team, with strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Familiarity working with local indigenous partners within the agreed procurement & contracts expectations is advantageous.
Strong knowledge of project controls methodologies, including scheduling, cost management, and risk management. Proficiency in project controls software (e.
g., Prism, Primavera P6, MS Project, Oracle Primavera Unifier, or similar)Key Competencies / SkillsStrong organizational and multitasking skills are required.
