Position Summary :

As Communications Specialist at Sym-Tech Dealer Services, you are a compelling storyteller who has the ability to engage industry, consumer and company audiences alike based on your expert knowledge of the industry, Sym-Tech’s products and services and communications best-practices.

Reporting directly to the Marketing Manager, you are equally effective in authoring original content and contributing to the overall creative process as a member of the Marketing and Communications team.

Position Functions :

Corporate Identity Management : Evaluate and ensure all messaging on marketing materials internally and externally follow the company’s corporate brand standards and overall Sym-Tech brand experience, are updated with current information, and are in accordance with Advertising Standards Guidelines.

Strategic Messaging : Assist in the development of communications strategy including recommendations on messaging, channel usage, timing, cadence, etc.

Communications Process Creation and Execution : Identify and document the different stages of creating and drafting a communicative piece.

Understand the key players who need to be involved and adhering to the approvals process. Continually assess, measure and report on communication processes, and online tools effectiveness for the purpose of continual improvement.

Exercise discretion on confidential content including business results and organizational announcements.

Content Creation and Copywriting : Based on your knowledge of Sym-Tech Dealer Service’s competitive positioning and the F&I industry, drive written content creation and execution activities to effectively differentiate Sym-Tech products and services for dealers, dealer groups OEMs and consumers (target audience).

Generate written content in support of point-of-sale, digital media, web, social media, CRM, presentation, editorial, video content and training materials related to Sym-Tech (the company) products and services.

Monitor trade communications to identify industry trends that may impact / create opportunities for Sym-Tech.

Social media planning :

Create and run a daily, weekly, and monthly social calendar on LinkedIn and other social outlets.

Optimize communications channels : Contribute to the planning and implementation of content across all platforms including creation of videos, graphics, illustrations, animations, social media posts, website etc.

for all internal and external online channels.

Foster effective relationships with media and industry contacts to support Sym-Tech’s position as a thought-leading F&I provider in Canada.

Increase awareness and reach : Create communications content that is utilized consistently across all touchpoints, both internal and external, ensuring increased Sym-Tech brand awareness and extended reach.

Creativity : Thinking creatively, providing new ideas and concepts for the positioning and development of various marketing and communications materials, ensuring they interpret the Sym-Tech brand experience and are presented in a compelling manner.

Timelines : Work at a fast pace and employ effective time management skills to ensure timelines are met and internal requests are responded to in a timely, professional manner.

Teamwork : Employ a team approach to contribute to the overall success of the marketing group

Work with the Marketing team to contribute to integrated campaigns related to product and project development. Assist in helping to provide communicative guidance to the marketing materials such as advertisements, brochures, flyers, newsletters, press releases, letters, white papers, presentation slide decks, reports, and other publications.

Support with media relations resulting in earned and paid media opportunities.

Own any ad hoc administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Product and Marketing or other Executive management.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • College, university degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Communications / PR, digital media, or a related field ·
  • 5+ years communications, public relations, marketing, or executive communications experience

Mandatory English and French verbal and written fluency

  • F&I and / or automotive / finance / insurance industry experience
  • Knowledge of Dealer, Dealer Group and OEM dynamics
  • Demonstrated Digital, Web and CRM communications expertise.
  • Proven ability to execute innovative and creative communication techniques.
  • Outstanding communication skills, written and verbal with the ability to distil complex ideas into understandable and non-technical language.
  • Strategic and creative thinker with excellent interpersonal and proof-reading skills
  • Confident in interacting with executives and senior management and effectively presenting a point of view across varying levels of the organization.
  • Strong proficiency using electronic communication technology and software; specifically, -MailChimp, Outlook, SharePoint, Survey tools, Adobe Pro, and social media platforms (LinkedIn).
  • Strong graphic design / visualization skills; including, understanding of style, consistency, and color sense.
  • Results-focused and deadline sensitive.
  • Media trained
