Job Description

Toronto Star One-Year Journalism Internship 2024 / 2025

Come and join the program that gave so many of Canada’s journalists their start : the Toronto Star’s one-year internship.

We are accepting applications for our 2024 / 25 one-year internship.

This internship is for early-career journalists college- and university-level students or recent graduates who have less than five years of experience in the profession interested in working in any part of our newsroom, from reporting and photojournalism to digital producing and multimedia .

You must have some form of journalism experience previous internships or roles in a range of organizations, freelance or non-traditional outlets.

Interns work with full-time staff in a challenging but supportive environment.

All Star internships are paid, contract positions.

Positions would be based out of Toronto or Ottawa.

• A range of story-telling skills, with a strong emphasis on news coverage
• Proven ability to report thoroughly, write well and organize information
• Multimedia experience, including social media, video, audio, digital producing and design and photography
• Reporting experience outside school assignments and a demonstrated commitment to journalism as a career
• Strong interpersonal skills
